How many people here use them and like them? And for what type of cooking?

I was thinking of trying one.

I got one last year for Father's Day from my youngest. It is the smaller model. Haven't used it very much, but when I have, it did a fine job.

My favorite meal with it is to cook a chicken breast. Eight or nine minutes later it is done. Some lettuce, tomato, green pepper, onion and a little wasabi horseradish mayonnaise on lightly toasted bread. Good eatin', cheaper than a sub shop. Only drawback, they are a royal PITA to clean.

I have a real big one... The 6 big burgers one...
Overall I give it an 8, and a ^c...

You can cook anything suitable in a few minutes!
Great for lots of things...
Seasoned salmon just popped in my mind...

But-- it might give you some color on a steak, or some mild grid marks if you leave it on long enough,
but it won't give you a crusty exterior---on anything...
Hotdogs maybe, but they can handle, and actually prefer, being overcooked...
Chicken breasts and most steaks and can't...

So, for a casual steak meal when no-one's watchin' it's OK, but if you need to even mildly impress,
ya gotta grill or break out Grandma's wrought iron...

And I don't find cleaning a negative issue...
As soon as I'm done, while it's still hot, I place some folded, wet, paper towels on the plates
and close the lid...

I let it steam for a few seconds then let it cool some...
(But letting it get cold again defeats the porpoise!)
Then I just wipe it down...

So far I've never needed the scraper that came with it...

One more comment.
I wish the no-stick finish was a better quality...
It should hold up better, especially with my babying...

This is my second GF grill and the NS finish blisters after a while...
I believe it's an econo job...

But they're cheap, so it still gets a ^c...

I have one and don't like it. Mainly because it is such a pain in the tuckus to clean.

We've used ours a lot and so far, haven't found it that bad to clean.

It's two Teflon irons with a hinge. Waste-O money IMO. ;Q

I am weird but I have found the greatest use for mine: grilled eggplant for lunch at work ;f ;f ;f

Also makes great grilled squash, zuchinni and any other veggies you would grill.

Another great use for it is cooking bacon! The grease drains down and it doesn't splatter all over the kitchen ;)

I have heard friends talk about the teflon issue as well as the convienance of doing bacon. Now I'm really scratching my head.

I've got the "basic" model. PITA to clean great for hot dogs, bacon, grilled veggies, and the occasional burger. doesn't 'crisp' the outside like a real grill, though.

For $15 it wasn't a bad investment.

I thought they were hokey and gimmicky, then my boss gave me one (the small model) as a present. It's pretty cool. The only drawbacks for me are....
1) It's too small (can be solved by getting the larger model)
2) Like others have said, it is a PITA to clean. Otherwise, it's pretty good. :)

We have the small one and really like it, use it for chicken,
grill cheese, and burgers mostly.
they are a pain in the neck to clean though.

Very handy, especially for chicken breasts and burgers. Nice if it's nasty outside and you don't want to fire up the big grill. Never tried to cook bacon on it, I'll have to do that sometime.

Yeah, they are a PITA to clean, and since I like using marinades and seasonings, mine is always pretty messy by the time I'm done.

Yeah, I forgot to mention how good the GF is for Eggplant!
Thick onion slices, and marinated Portabellos too!

And again, they're not hard to clean at all if you do it the way I described...

After steaming with wet paper towels, just wipe it down for a few seconds...
No scraping necessary...

We have had our GF grills now for about two years. They have held up well to semi-heavy use.

PITA to clean? Yeah, they can be if you wait till the last minute to wipe them down. If you get them while they are hot, they aren't that bad. Take some paper towels and wad them up, wet them, and wipe it down while it is still hot but unplugged. That takes most of the grime off.

We cook bacon, ham steaks, link sausuages, patty sausages, the occasional burgers, hot dogs, chicken breasts, and grilled ham and cheese sandwiches. We usually pre spray it with a cooking spray to keep the sticking crud to a minimum.

I have the large one and the small one and there has been more than one occasion of having them both going with thick cut bacon on one and link sausages on the other. The bun warmer works well for putting your biscuits in and keeping them warm while you use your oven for home fries or hash browns. Picture me with both grills full of breakfast meat, scrambled eggs or omelette going on a skillet on the range, and an oven full of home fries and you are seeing into a weekly occurance in this household.

But steaks and seafood go on the outdoor offset smoker grill over lump and Jack Daniels oak chips. There is just no substitute for that kind of flavor for fine cuts of meat.

Our set came with a toaster also and it does a fine job as well.

For those that are having quality issues, try a Panini grill.
Though they are normally use for making Panini Italian sandwhiches, they work even better as a "two-side' grill.
Ive found the quality to be MUCH better.

I use mine to cook quite regularly, not so much as a substitute for a "regular" grill, but as a sub for stove top and oven.
I get home & plug it in to pre heat while Im getting cleaned up, throw on a chicken breast or two along with a few handfulls of veggies and in 5 minutes Ive got some quick healthy grub.

PITA to clean? I do exactly what lwt210 suggested, works great for me.

The trick to cleaning a George Foreman grill is to clean it when it's hot. If you let it cool off before you clean it just plug it back in for a minute or two and it will be much easier to clean. Just make sure you unplug it before you clean it and be careful so that you don't burn yourself.

The cleaning up was the harddest thing for me and that scraper thing was joke hot or cold grilll. It was like a cat scratching it's self with no claws ;)

the best grilll I have now is a baby weber ;)
