Does Tungston rod have ill effect on gun?

I was reading a post in another section and someone said they had reported it was eating some spots in the plastic. I wondered if this is a problem with the Tungston or a rare problem. It seems that Glockmiester wouldn't sell a product that can hurt the gun.
