Pardon my ignorance about 1911 terminology, but what does S_I mean?

i_am_infinity : assuming na kakasya siya sa STI frame - i may get one siguro pagtagal, kung wala nang susunod na project.

Jojo,
Yung painted grip para sti and svi, d ko lang alam kung fit din sa sps or kailangan pa konting modification. good luck sa project. by the way ingat sa s*i maraming peke.

Since we're on the issue of STI, I had always been wondering why it had become popular for the .40 caliber(at least in my experience). When someone asks me what caliber I got, and I say .40, they immediately ask me if it's an STI. This also seems to be the case when talking with some dealers. Anyone know the reasons?;b
