I shot about a hundred rounds out of my new Bulgarian Makarov today, and not one jam or FTE. It looks like it is going to be a great carry gun.

I think I am going to make some sort of plug to go in that screw hole in the back of the grip though, it kind of cuts into your hand a little.

It has quite a bit more kick than my XD sub in 9mm and a hell of alot more fun to shoot.

A couple of ssuggestions.
1) get a 19# or 21# replacement recoil spring from Wolff
http://www.gunsprings.com/

2) A firm grip is necessary. You might try a Hogue Handall or an
Agrip wrap from Brookstactical.com.

Don't know which Makarov grip you are using, but some work better than others. In general, the thumbrest grips tend to not fit the gun as well as the EG and red star military grips. A loose grip will create a great deal of dicomfort during the shock of the discharge event.

My Mak came with the star grip and a aftermarket grip that is black in color, I think I like the star(original) grip better. I am going to shot it with that one tomorrow and see how it feels.

The original grip is narrower and is better for CCW.

I ended up with a blister after putting 200 rounds through with a lot of rapid fire, using the red star grips. It was fun but my hands were raw after.

I talk about this gun so much, two of the guys at work are now getting them.
I just feels so darn good in your hand. I think I need another one, maybe for my wife.

I like the Red Star grip but you might smooth off some of the rough edges.

I don't like the Pearce rubber grip (too wide for me) but it is comfortable to shoot.

I've sold so many people on these things, I ought to get a factory rebate.

Almost everyone that shot mine has wanted one and many get them.:)

I hope the supply isn't drying up.

I bought this gun hoping it would be a good project gun so I could do some tinkering in the basement in my gunroom. It turns out I really like the trigger I don't think it needs improvement; there isn’t even any reason to polish the feed ramp because everything works perfectly right out of the box.

You've also posted so many times talking about how great these things are, as well as doing that nice torture test for all of us. It was almost by your recommendations in these forums alone that I decided to buy mine. I guess what I'm tryin to say is... Thanks!
