RMTactical 08-14-2005, 11:27 It's a special skill. I can do it ok, but a friend of mine can do it so good you really think it's going full auto for 30 rounds. ;P I guess it's not important enough for me to want to practice that all the time. G19Tony 08-14-2005, 12:26 Bumpfire??? Never heard of that one. ^8 centennial 08-14-2005, 12:55 You're better off not knowing. Skintop911 08-14-2005, 15:00 Mindless waste of ammo, except when you want to produce failures and malfunctions in bottomfeeders. centennial 08-14-2005, 15:03 Not to mention extremely dangerous. Only a complete dip**** retard would attempt it. RMTactical 08-14-2005, 15:05 Originally posted by Skintop911 Mindless waste of ammo I think of it as somewhat similar to fireworks. You're just going for that "awww" factor. Admitedly, I have bumpfired a few mags, but I do start to feel bad about wasting ammo. Mindless? I guess it depends. I mean, you could say the same thing about plinking... Dangerous? Don't be silly. vote Republican 08-14-2005, 21:01 Originally posted by G19Tony Bumpfire??? Never heard of that one. ^8 I've never done it, but if I could get to a range where it was OK I'd give it a shot. Basically involves using the recoil of the gun to cause it to fire very rapidly - hold your thumb through the trigger guard very stiff, sort of locked in place (maybe through a belt loop) and push the rifle forward. Probably not the best description, but as I said I've not done it yet. It's nothing you'd ever use in real life, but seeing as I'll probably never spend 10K or more on a class 3 AR, it's something to try. DJ Niner 08-15-2005, 02:40 Try one of these: http://a1460.g.akamai.net/f/1460/1339/6h/www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/Item/22/30/17/i223017sq01.jpg BMF Activator. Lottsa fun on .22s or .223s; wouldn't use it on anything larger than a .30 Carbine, though. Works righty or lefty, and off a bipod, it's perfectly safe and controllable (although accuracy is poor, as you might expect). Cabela's has them (hope they don't mind the hotlink if it comes with a plug): http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp;jsessionid=0VLIWM13YD2DZTQSNOECCOWOCJVYWIWE?id=0005765223017a&navCount=0&cmCat=srchdx&cm_ven=srchdx&cm_ite=srchdx&CM_REF=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fproducts%2FCcat20803.jsp&_requestid=3195 AtLarge 08-15-2005, 21:18 Originally posted by AR15GUY any tips on bumpfire an ar besides practice. It's greasy kid's stuff but still fun. Plan to do a rework of your FCG. Most AR's can't make it happen in stock form. I can't bump my Colt with the standard trigger. A_Swede_17_1911 08-15-2005, 21:32 Cant really bump fire my AR, but man my CETME is the bumpfiring maching, you just think about it and you can pull off a 10 round burst, its awsome but its hard to contol. Definatly gives you a smile after you do it. I only bumpfire it when plinking not at a real range. PromptCritical 08-17-2005, 21:38 Had my first "successful" bump a few weeks ago. Got the rifle in just the right position, pushed forward and BRRRRAAAAAP! Empty. Was so giddy, I had to do it again. BRRRAAAAAP! Empty again. Maybe next time I'll show off and try the C-Mag.;N JWP 08-17-2005, 22:24 well using an nfa m16 for betac dumps is fun - at night in 11.5" gun or shorter particularly lights up the night and you can see the gas tube glow RED wasting ammo, maybe, grin - PRICELESS Alchemy 08-17-2005, 23:59 Everyone needs a little bump once in awhile. I kind of feel sorry for the guy's that need a range to shoot. My backyard is a range:) Weezer 08-20-2005, 10:25 Here is a link to a video of some guy bump firing some rifles, I'm sure it's been posted here before: BUMP FIRE (http://lifelibertyetc.com/RangeBag.aspx) I showed it to my wife with a big grin on my face, and she just rolled her eyes. Must be a guy thing! ;f USMCsilver 08-20-2005, 15:52 I'll admit to having done it on occasion. My MAIN justification -- reliability check. If I can run 30 rounds through the rifle/mag in 3-4 seconds without a malfunction, I'd take that rifle to hell and back with confidence. A key to bump firing is to have a light rifle. You can't do it with much crap hanging off it that adds weight. The lighter, the better. PromptCritical 08-20-2005, 15:57 I wondered about that too, but I have all sorts of crap on my AR and it bumped just fine. Well, just an EOTech, rail forend, vertical grip, and a light. Well, just an EOTech, rail forend, vertical grip, and a light. It's possible that you have a better technique, or a somewhat "smoother" trigger. I just find it easier when it's lighter. See my "beater" thread below. Gonna "test" it tomorrow, weather permitting. sarge1 09-14-2005, 19:02 bumping sarge1 09-14-2005, 19:09 bumping Dennis in MA 09-14-2005, 21:18 I like the guy doin it with a Garand. DANG! I'd not try that anywhere. Desert, middle of the ocean, North Pole. Too hard to make it work and control it, I would think. 3 weelin geezer 12-12-2005, 21:51 Originally posted by centennial Not to mention extremely dangerous. You know, I think the same thing of those people who take a little stick and whack a little white ball all over the place for no reason then get all pissed off when it doesnt go in that little hole. Boy, that is a skill worth millions of dollars. To each his own. Ballistic 12-13-2005, 23:39 I love to bump any of my Ak's.Nothing like bumping .308 winchester down range with my VEPR,but then I'm a little retarded. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
