View Full Version : long slide conceal carry
Any of you out there (in here) ever conceal carry your long slide firearms
I am just wondering after seeing Man On Fire where DEnzel has a 17L conceal if anyone in real life does or has

Denzel didn't have a 17L, he had a 34 or 35 Tactical/Practical.
my mistake, still though my question remains if anyone carries a long slide

No, why would they? Too long to be practical.
Yes, I carry my 35. Its the same size as a 5" 1911, which is easy as cake to carry.

By "longslide GLOCK", I take it you mean the "L" models, with an 8.85" slide, not the "Tactical/Practical" models with the 8.15" slide. The 34/35s aren't too bad (although I wouldn't care to conceal one myself). The 17L is ridiculously long for carry, IMO.

I carry my 35 occasionally, when I finish with my leather IWB, I will carry it more. Lighter than my 1911 with more ammo. I'm 5'8" and able to conceal the 35 easily. Practical? With the right clothing and holster. Tactical? Definitely.
Denzel carried the 34, then had the 17 when he came back the house.

I have carried my G34.
I never thought to carry my G24 but at one time I had a G22 as my carry gun.

I have carried just about every Glock size made at one time or another. The G17 that I carry now with stock G34 barrel installed is not too bad with the use of a Clipdraw and IWB. I find that the longer slide length pressing against my pants really helps to keep the pistol tucked into my side better.
I have also carried the G34 like this and found it to be no different, the only reason I carry the Glock refurb 2gen 17 instead of the 3gen 34 for concealed carry is that if I ever have to use it, I'd hate to have my much more costly 3gen 34 with KKM 6" barrel taken from me. In a justifiable self defense senario, it is my understanding that PD always takes your weapon, and the courts rarely ever give them back no matter the ruling in your favor :(
Carry the 34 occasionaly. The 19, however doesn't even feel as though I am carrying.
I rarely carry the G34. Usually it's the G26 with a 17 round mag for backup. If considering the 34 for carry (or similar) it really should conceal like a G17 for most types of carry. The extra barrel length is down your leg anyway. The grip is the hard thing to conceal. If you can do that with a 17 (or similar) a 34 is the same.

I tried shoulder carry with the 35, it carried well except the extended slide release activated and dump my mag, "Excuse me sir,but you drop something on the ground. Thank you ma'm.";g
I would like to see the New Galco vertical make one for the 34/35, I would get one immediately. Galco if you are listening....
iI think its great how everybody assumes that the G34/35 are so huge!!!!!
My 34 is exactly the same dimensons as my Beretta 92fs.
I carry the 34 all the time

All my Glocks are set up for carry. All have smooth triggers 3.5 lb connectors with NY1 Springs, regular mag releases, and Trijicon night sights. I run 180 grain slugs, presently Winchester SXT's, through them.
The short answer, my G35 rides in a Comp-Tac Pro Undercover IWB when I carry it concealed.
Best,
Dave

Lay a G34/35 next to a USP soccom .45 That will show just how easily a G34/35 could be carried.

i have carried my 34 in a CTAC slide and it worked out well
i got poked in the hip (READ BUTT CHEAK) bone a lil bit and that got old but with new sights it doesnt seem to do that

Have carried a 17L for over 6 years in a Sparks MMX IWB originally made for my G19. Carry at 2:00 loaded with 147 gr. Ranger T or Speer Gold Dots.

If you can carry a 1911 5 inch, you can carry a g 35. I have been carrying a g35 in both a blade tech iwb and owb and a rafter s owb all summer. Is it as comfortable as a g19- no. Is it more comforting than a g19 -yes. Remember that a loaded g35 is still 5-7 oz lighter than an unloaded 5 inch steel .45.
As with any weapon system, get a quality holster, with a quality belt, mate the width of the belt to the size of the slots on the holster and carry concealed away. Failure to do this makes carrying any weapon exponentially more uncomfortable and in some cases, difficult.
EDITED TO ADD: If your are going to carry it for real, ditch the extended mag release. I ditched the extended slide stop too, but the is not a critical.

I thought it was a 34 at first too.. but if you look at my screenshot thread in General Glocking, you'll see that his glock had a standard slide stop, not the extended one thats on the 34/35.

I would do it but Sidearmor doesnt make an IWB for my G20L. In fact, I haven't found a Kydex OR leather holster that is fit for my gun.
ps...if anyone fineds one that isn't custom, let me know! I think that a leather one for a G17L MIGHT work....dunno.

What about a Comp-tac C.T.A.C. Slide (http://www.comp-tac.com)?

I'm ideally looking for a full slide coverage model but I hadn't thought of an IWB that isn't full slide coverage.... hmmm...
Thanks for the idea.... its the first good idea I've gotten on thie subject in six months.
Thanks!

I carry my G35 in a Fobus paddle holster and 2 extra mags in a Fobus paddle mag holder every day. I just use a long Dickies work shirt to cover it. I use the same equipment when competing in IDPA matches. Works fine...;f

IWB with a jacket or loose shirt, no problem. My G35 almost conceals better than my G29, ALMOST! At home, I just shove it in my belt in the small of my back. If you want to conceal it, you will. If you doubt it, you won't ever be able to do it.

I have carried my 35 concealed. With the right holster its no big deal. Everything is the same as a 22, except the length.

It was a G34. Those were 9mm bullets he was flipping into his hand. The slide length and profile is same as the G34. I have a standard slide stop on my G34 as well (easy swap).
