Makarov Doubling

So my Mak is great, it goes bang every time I pull the trigger.

The problem is sometimes it goes BANG BANG, and the last time I shot it it went BANG BANG BANG slide lock. I'm just thankful there were only 3 rounds left in that mag, I put a hole in an overhead board on the firing line as it was.

Does anyone know what would cause a Mak to double like this? I.e. what parts could be worn or what may be fouled that I missed.

I've never had it happen but have read about it from time to time. It's usually a double vs. a triple. Believe it's generally caused by not letting the trigger go all the way forward after firing a shot & it doesn't fully reset. Sometimes happens when rapid firing.

Have you removed the firing pin and cleaned the firing pin channel?

When I bought the Mak, yes I did, but it's had about 500 rounds through it since then. I'll break it down and see how it looks in there. (And clean it either way of course.)

Just a note, Myomer.

The firing pin should be loose in the channel. One of the checks I always do on my Mak is to shake it gently next to my ear (unloaded, of course). If I don't hear the rattle, I know it needs attention.
