Computer problem

When I click on a link to open another window all I get is two beeps a window appears then dissapears and then nothing. Another computer I tried it worked, it was an applet java window I guess. I am using windows xp home version with road runner and internet explorer. Help!

1.)Have you tried rebooting your computer (sounds like it could be an IE process hanging)?

2.)Do you have spyware protection programs (it could be spyware related)?

3.)Do you have pop-up blocker programs installed (it could be unintentional)?

4.) Do you have Symantec/Norton products running?
