Anyone got tips on the best way to clean between the barrel and the vented handguard on my Bushmaster varminter.I want to be able to get any trash and moisture out without leaving too much lube behind. I realize that between the phosphate barrel finish and the aluminum tube that corrosion is a minimal problem, but that aside, how do you clean yours?

don't
but you could use compressed air if required

1. Spray CLP up in there, let the excess drip out (put gun muzzle down). Excess CLP will burn off when you shoot it but it may smoke.
2. Put a patch on a pistol rod with a patch loop and run it up in there.

Never have - probably should someday.
I'd guess that you would want to take off the handguards to do it right.

V.Repub.:
Thats the trouble with MOST floaters. The handguard is also the barrel nut so does not lend itself to indescriminate removal.
Maybe I should have mentioned that I'm a little obsessive about keeping a clean gun.

Gotcha, didn't realize that was a free float setup.
Or how one worked.
Still learning about ARs. :)

V.REP.,
Me too.I've only been into AR's for about six years but I'm absolutely hooked on them.Get all the books, manuals, and tapes on them you can find, then don't be afraid to lay all the parts of yours on the dining room table. It's surprising how quickly you'll become proficient in understanding the AR.

Of course, I could have
READ THE STUPID THREAD TITLE.
;f
I'm starting my first lower build shortly. We'll see if it actually works.

V.Rep.,
On the thread title......glad I've got company with brain lapses.
On the lower build.....good luck....can't miss...pardon the pun.
Going to bed...it's late in Ga. and I'm old.
