View Full Version : Another G20L is born!!!
Waited almost six months to put the beast together. At last, I've joined the distinguished club. ;+ A big thanks to ColoradoGlocker for the inspiration and support. ;?

I believe that is how you get the front sight off if you need to.

The hole is there to screw in the front sight.

It is my wish that more people will give this setup a try. We are hardly dying, the number can only grow higher! Let us know how she shoots!I put two bags of Georgia Arms ammo through it on Sunday. The first was the 180gr FMJs, I had one double feed, and four failures to go into battery. I had to tap the back of the slide to get it to lock up. This is similar to what Mossyrock (http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=417873) had experienced. So I too had crappy six inch groupings as a result. ;g
When I switched over to the 180gr "Shear Power" Gold Dots, I had no malfunctions at all. They are loaded a little hotter than the practice FMJs, and we can all agree that the hefty slide prefers hot loads. I'll hold off using the FMJs until the new slide is broken in.
My groupings improved slightly, but I became paranoid and broke aim to check the slide for full lock-up. Plus I had been on the range for three hours prior to sight in my .223 and shot 250+ rounds of .45 with the G21, so my accuracy suffered greatly due to fatigue.
I expect to do better on my next outing. Will try some DoubleTaps as well.

For some reason, seems to be the most appropriate face to display when talking about our G20L's.

[b]I'll start out the responses by saying unequivocally, YES! YES! A thousand times YES!
If you're asking if I regret my purchase, MOST DEFINITELY NOT!
If you're asking if I'd spend the money to ACTUALLY do it again, I would say.... why bother? I can get my .45 ACP barrel and a load of mags for 10mm/.45ACP and shoot both.... FOREVER!!! AHHAHAHAHAHAHAH ....er... sorry. ;b
If I were to somehow LOSE my G20L or it got stolen, god forbid, and, for example, got an insurance check to replace it...would I? MOST DEFINITELY!
Is is possible to get a 9x25 barrel for the 45-10mm and shoot 9x25, .45, and 10mm from the same gun (with just a barrel change)?

LWD is working on a true G20L slide that will let you use the 6" Glock barrel. That means you can also drop in a 6" 9x25 barrel into it, but you won't be able to shot .45s with that setup.

does the slide come with a recoil spring ??
I was jealous when I saw the 1st one & now it's just not fair.
thnx ;)
It does not come with a recoil spring. The stock one I use works fine, but a 17lb or 15lb non-captured rod/spring should work very well with the heavy slide.
Get yourself one, we'd love to have you join our cult. ;N

POLL answer: i'm still waiting on the G20L slide. JR at Lone Wolf says having hassles with some metric/inch issues but is working through it.
Rawny: i also asked Kevin at KKM if he'd make me a 45-9x25 barrel for the 21L slide and he said no, but Bill at Bar-Sto said yes so give him a call.

I've noted that, after your G20L is broken in, the 17# stock rod and spring are fine for stock loads. For DTs or hot reloads, its better to get a 20# to 22# spring as I've noted that with my hot loads, the cases fly about 30 ft.Oh great, more shopping. ;9

My G20L slide from Bar-Sto came with a recoil spring assembly. Of course, I didn't know it would, so I bought a stainless guide rod set up from Glockmeister when I bought my frame.

She looks gorgeous!
Gorgeous gorgeosity to the max! Ive had a KKM 5.6in.barrel for my G21 for years now. I dont know about the whole longslide deal, but a 6in..45-10mm is certainly gonna happen soon.
Gotta get in this club, even if its only through the back door!

I just wanted a replacement barrel that would save wear & tear on the original. I just figured an inch longer than stock would suffice for all around use. Not to mention Id be able to shoot lead too.

I plan on eventually getting around to that with my Glock 20 it is just a matter of available funds for a po' college boy.
I wonder if taking a Montana's Glock 20L collection would work? If I played it right then contributors could count it off on taxes as charity. One of you guys said you already owed $2000 to the IRS...hmmm
Any takers...er..ahh...givers?

what was the total cost?

08-31-2005, 11:11
I too would like to know what the total cost of a G20L would be by piecing together the parts separately (receiver/frame, slide, barrel, etc.) and not starting with a G21/G20 pistol.

G20 Frame: Glockmeister $160
G21L Slide: Lone Wolf Distributors $549.95
6" 45/10mm Barrel: KKM $165
10mm magazines: Lone Wolf $19.95
Total: $894.90
These are the current prices as of today. If I recall correctly, I paid more than this for my slide from Bar-Sto...something like $650, bringing my total, with three mags to just at or under a grand. I also purchased a 6" G21 .45 ACP barrel and two .45 ACP mags as well.

Dang! As cool as the G20L is, I would rather have a few Witness 10mm's or a nice 1911 10mm or even an Olympic Arms AR in 10mm. I was hoping to be able to piece one together for around $650 or so max.
