Just called Streicher's in the Twin Cities and ordered her today. I ganked the rifle pic off Gunbroker. Mine will have a carry handle of course.

and throwing this lil' puppy on there for good measure:

Had them throw in two extra 30 round mags and I'm going to call them back tomorrow and throw in a couple hundred rounds of ammo as well. All in all it's costing me just a tad over $1400. I wanted that 500 lumen Surefire tac light on there too but the damn thing costs as much as the gun!

Looks like you're getting a great set-up for starters.

I had a DPMS M4 for a whole 10 min. a few years ago. I bought one off Gunbroker from a dealer who turned out to be most disreputable.
I told him I needed it before a certain date because I'd be out of town, and wanted it for when I was out of town. He didn't ship it until the day I was leaving. (He had three weeks to ship it and get it to me before I left)
Ended up getting in a head on crash while out of town and missed work. Rifle showed up, I had bills, so I did what I had to.
I get to pick it up in September down in the Twin Cities. I asked them to mount the Aimpoint for me and they said sure, provided they have one in stock (Ever since 9/11 and Iraq they've been getting HAMMERED for orders).
One question I do have, if they mount it on the carry handle, how easy is it to take off if I decide I want to just shoot iron sights?

Don't mount it on the carry handle - get a gooseneck. Cowitness, and you can quick detach it if you want. Plus it's further forward (good) and not as high off the axis (good).

I might not even be getting the Aimpoint for sure. Streicher's was out as of now, so if they don't have one by the time I pick it up I'm just gonna forget about it and pocket the cash for the nudie bars in Minneapolis.

I think that's all you need. Give them a call, they were real helpful when I bought.
Actually you need an aimpoint qrp mount in order to use the aimpoint forward carry mount. I just received the forward mount from midway and now am sending it back because I don't want to shell out another 90 bucks in addition to the cost of the optic. I wish I knew that before I ordered it. By the way here's a link to the qrp if your interested http://www.ultimak.com/APQRP.htm

+1 on VR's post.
riflescopes.com has the best prices I have ever seen on Aimpoints and mounts. That's where I bought my forward mount and Aimpoint.
Uh Pete,
How much do you spend in the jiggly bars? ;P
You can just slap an EO on that flattop. You are good to go for under $300 and still have money for the shaker bars or a BUIS. If you are interested in the EO, I'll set you up with a good source and local carbine training.

Changed my order a little.
Scratched the Aimpoint. I don't really know enough about scopes, so I want to wait and learn more before slapping one on. Plus I love just shooting iron sights, so what the heck.
What I *Did* do though, is because the Aimpoint was $400 or so, I took the money I'm saving on that, and had them put a G26 in my order instead. Same price almost, but twice the bang-bang.
Going with the DPMS vertical foregrip on it, and I have to call and order a sling. Gonna go with the Blackhawk SWIFT probably.
Oh and Mr. Wrong, that figure is classified.

Thanks. For M4 training I have a couple good hookups. I just graduated LE School, so I know a few guys on Duluth's Tactical team and St. Louis County's SWAT team, along with a former member of Minneapolis PD's CRT team.
As I said in my other post, I'm just gonna work on getting myself the best iron sights shooter I can be, then going to scope work.

I'm still an iron sight kinda guy, too.
Sounds like your in good hands up there. I've shot with some folks from Duluth PD several times. Good shooters. Good people.
