or 17L slide on a 34 base? Not saying that I know how to get a 17L slide, but would it work?

How about a 34 slide on a 35?

thanks,
Dan

Yes it would work.
Glock frames are all pretty much the same. The G34 frame is the same frame that is on the G17, G17L, G22, G24, G31 and G35.
The only differences are (maybe) the slide stop, mag release, trigger weight and assembly.

I believe the ejector assembly in the frame is different between 9mm and .40s&w, but they should run fine at the range.
You should not put a .40s&w slide on a first gen or early second gen 9mm frame. they were not beefed up like later models. Other than that, you should be able to swap any full size upper on to any full size lower
Glockmiester and others have 17L upper assemblies for sale.

The .40 ejector is different from the 9mm, swapping the trigger mechanism housing with ejector to the appropriate caliber. The extractor also will have to be change.

Barrel
Trigger housing w/ ejector
Extractor
magazine

I think, this are the things you will need to convert without buying a new upper. Correct me if I have missed something.

Would a .45 gap (g38 slide) be even more risky to the frame than the .40? How does glocks waranty feel about this since they are all factory parts?

If you are swapping complete upper assemblies, there is no need to change the extractor. You do no need to change ejector assemblies for casual range use, only if you make the swap permanent.

Glockmeister no longer lists the 17L or 24 slides on the website. The 24 upper is shown, however it says that it is out of stock.
