I will purchase an extended tungstun guide rod soon, and am not sure what spring weight to choose. The guide rod will be for my Gen III G17L, which I will mainly use for target practice. Thanks!!!

I would start with the standard 17 pound spring and change that only if you need to.
I like to run with the highest spring that will run my pistol reliably.
With my G-20/10mm, that is a 22 pound spring. With an old G-34 I used to have, that was 15 pounds with practice ammo and 17 with +p.
Matt at CGR is just the opposite, he recomends very light springs, as low as 13 pounds with some coils cut off! You have to lighten your striker spring to run such light recoil springs, or else your striker spring will out pull your recoil spring, pulling the slide out of battery.
I would read Matt's article on springs. I don't agree with every thing he says, but it's educational.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I purchased the 13 pound spring today, before I read your post! Hopefully the 13 pound will work, if not, looks like I will be buying more springs!!!
