Gorelick, I have a problem. I want an ar with a 16in barrel and an a3 upper; this is where the problem is. At my local sportsman’s they have a bushmaster a2 with a 16in barrel and for $769.00. And a bushmaster a3 with a 14in barrel for $829.00, my question is would it be cheaper to get the a2 and with the barrel that I want and add an a3 later? Sorry for the long post...

You could buy a complete upper and a complete lower, have a 16" upper with a flat top for around $700. That's what you should do. Get on www.eaglefirearms.net and look up their Stag AR's/parts.

If you insist on a Bushy, well, I'd just buy what I want instead of get something you aren't completely satisfied with. You will spend too much time and it will be annoying if you don't get exactly what you want in the first place.

There are plenty of deals out there. Don't feel obligated to buy this one if it's not what you want.
