how would you go?i know this is the ar forum, but would i be doing myself a dis-service by going with an uzi semi carbine/fullsize versus an ar 9mm conversion?the uzi has alot of coolness factor working for it,but does the ar chambered in 9mm have it beat for reliability.or will the uzi beat the ar for reliability?im looking for a carbine i can mount a red dot scope on,have it be a 16 inch barrel, get a decent cheek weld on,be reliable, digest wwb 115 gr fmjs all day long without hiccuping,,,i leave it to the jury...
a semi auto uzi looses coolness points to the ful auto ..

Get a Vector Arms Uzi carbine. It, and my Steyr M357, are the only guns I've ever regretted letting go. As for reliability, I believe the AR to be reliable when maintained, but the Uzi will stomp the AR in that department. The thing is incredibly simple and built like a tank. It's nice being able to unsrew the barrel for cleaning, too.

a non-sbr uzi has limited "cool" factor imo with that huge barrel on it- just looks plain stupid
hence I went w/the ar:

now if you intend to sbr it, then I could see maybe getting the uzi
but fwiw my ar has been 100% reliable, but then again I just finished building it last week lol...

Cool 9mm? Vector V53 pistol. After you get it, apply for the papers, SBR that biiiaaaaaach, put on an A2 or A3 stock, and you'll be GOOD TO GO!

I'd SBR an AR-15 and go 9mm with it, just for fun. One of these days, I will do that, but for now, I'm too busy buying guns with more purpose.

I have a Form 1 right here for my 9mm Colt. Need to drop it off tomorrow for a CLEO signature. :D

I like my Beretta CX4 Storm 9mm carbine! For a rifle I will take my AR-15s.

That's a nice idea.

I hate to ask, but isn't the Vector V53 a .223? I wasn't aware that Vetor made an HK clone in 9MM, something to do with an agreement with someone else not to build 9 millies. Anyway...I'm with you on the HK look idea USMC.
The UZI looks cool and all, but have ya'll ever shot a semi-auto one? Man, that thing is heavy, bulky, clunky, and not very accurate at all. I don't like the grip safety or the 90 degree grip angle for that matter. But I'm just knit-picking.
I have nothing against 9MM AR15's, and I am sure they are great performing rifles, but to me the AR15 wasn't designed to use the round and the magazines always look like they don't belong. It's strictly a fashion thing but I just don't like the idea of that long magazine hanging out the bottom of the gun. Shooting them prone must be difficult...at least it looks like it would be. (not because they are longer than the .223 magazines, I'm not sure if they are nor not, but because I would be afraid of bending or jamming up one if I hit it on the ground too hard.)
Anyway I was in the same boat as you a couple of months back Vincent, and I opted to get a Bobcat Weapons BW89PDW. (HK MP5K look alike) It was expensive, but turned out to be a fine shooter. Real fun gun. I considered a 9MM AR for sure, but the evil looks of the Bobcat won me over. (and at half price to an HK)

OOPS! Yeah, forgot the whole 9mm aspect of the post.
I was going to say BW89 next, but you took care of that.
Hell, bite the bullet, sell your car and possibly rent out your wife/girlfriend and buy a MP5 varient. You'll thank me later! ;z

I’m stuck with a 16” or longer barrel length here in Michigan (State law against SBR’s) so I have absolutely NO USE for a 9mm carbine with a 16” or + barrel… if it’s going to have a 16” or + barrel it might as well be good for something/not be a waste.
If I could have an SBR here I’d already have an SBR 9mm AR &/or an SBR 9mm H&K/H&K clone.
I have no use for a .223/5.56 with a barrel less then 16”… I have no use for a 9mm with a barrel 16” or longer. (I was offered a good price on a NIB factory Colt 9mm a few months back here… if I could have SBR’ed it I would’ve jumped on it for sure… it still sits at my local FFL shop along with a ever-so-slightly used factory H&K 9mm with a 16” barrel… I passed on that one too.)
between a AR15/9 and an Uzi, I'd pick the AR15, as it seems much more ergonomic and more accessorizable (is that a word?)...I actually wouldn't mind one for use at indoor ranges around here, but I want a .223 AR also:cool:

Don't get me wrong USMC I LIKE YOUR RECOMMENDATION! I've had my eye on the V53...Man, that's a sweet gun. It's kinda off the usual path for me (an AR15 guy) but hey, it's a damn good substitute for the Black Rifle Disease fix.

A good LEO friend of mine has the real-deal HK53 (It’s an older one (looks brand new though) & has the fixed stock.)… what a freak’in hoot that bad-boy is! I didn’t think it would be, but I find that the 3-shot-bust setting is the most fun.
It looks a lot like this: (even has the hand guard/stop)
