View Full Version : Speer Lawman GAP Ammo
Anyone having similar effects using 200gr Speer Lawman ammo as I have? Put 100 rounds thru my G38 and had little yellow looking flecks everywhere not to mention kicked like a mule!
I've been reloading using various powders and nothing seems to kick like that even at max published loads. Any reports on other brands would be appreciated.

Just last week I shot 250 each of the Lawman 200gr and Remington 230gr. I too noticed that the 200gr kicked just as much as the 230gr did. While not uncontrollable by any means, it WAS noticeable. I'm beginning to wonder if they are throwing some +p loads at us in that weight.
Shoot the 185 lawmans. I shot 100 of those and I though I was shooting some snappy 40 cal.

The Speer Lawman rounds do kick more. I too have noticed yellow specks. I have used the Winchester 230gr USA FMJ's, much less kick follow up is very easy. I personally prefer the Remington 230gr. They are cleaner and control is nice. I am very happy with them. I just shot 250 rnds and my G38 is still cleaner than after 50 rounds of lawman.

When I first started shooting my G37 in 2003, I was asking about the yellow flecks and nobody knew what I was talking about. At the time it was only with Speer 185Gr and 200Gr because that was all I had. But just today I shot a couple of boxes of American Eagle and some Winchester and I was getting the same yellow flecks.
I even asked Speer because of some ammo I think was defective and the lady who answered my e-mail said she had never heard of yellow flecks in their ammo.
At the same time, she asked me to return the ammo so they could inspect it. I returned an entire case because there was gun powder wedged between the bullet and the case mouth. I have yet to hear from them, even though they got the case yesterday morning, and I sent them an e-mail asking if they found anything out yet.
In addition to the yellow flecks, I can sometimes feel what I presume to be unburned powder being blown back on my face and arms.

Where have you found Remington GAP at?
Thanks all for the input. Will try some different factory loads and compare.

I called Natchez to ask when the Winchester was going to be back in stock some time ago. They said they were out but had Remington 45 GAP 230gr. I said that I didn't see it on the websight. They gave me a number to enter and search, there it was. ??? Got me? It's the regular stuff not the yellow box UMC, although UMC made it.

Think I paid 13-14 a box for 50. I ordered 500 rnds.

Since you didn't add the item numbers I'll link them for you. FMJ (http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=RTL45GAP4)

I've noticed the yellow flecks in all Lawman ammo that I've used (9mm, .40, .357, .45).

I haven't noticed the yellow flecks but I have noticed it's snappy as hell though. I didn't shoot it nearly as accurately as I did with the Speer Gold Dots either.
