View Full Version : Best .357 sig for G33 TJS 08-26-2005, 14:16 What would be the best carry round for a G33? Any suggestions? TLHelmer 08-26-2005, 18:47 Speer 125 gr. gold-dot or Winchester 125 gr. Rangers! TJS 08-26-2005, 18:49 I appreciate it! Scunyon 08-26-2005, 20:13 You might want to wait for Double Taps' 115gr and 147gr loads for the .357SIG:) PaleGreenHorse 08-26-2005, 22:07 I currently carry Doubletap, 125gr. Gold dots for my G33. When Mike introduces the 115's and 147's I will review the new loads in comparison to find the one that suits me best. TJS 08-27-2005, 11:42 That's a new name brand for me. How is it compared to Corbon ammo? PaleGreenHorse 08-27-2005, 16:21 Faster, less flash, cheaper, and the best customer service you could ever ask for. ;) www.doubletapammo.com He will be releasing more 357sig loads here very shortly. PGH~ TJS 08-27-2005, 16:59 and looked at their sight. Is their shipping reasonable? G33 08-27-2005, 17:01 I now use Double Tap in my .357 and 10mm guns.:) Donut Gestapo 08-28-2005, 09:12 Count another vote for Double Tap. I carry their 125gr 357SIG loading in my G31 and G33s. I, too, am waiting ever so patiently for the 115gr load to try in my G33s. jbrown50 08-28-2005, 18:49 The 115 gr. Corbons are very accurate out of my Glock 33 but they're very hard to find. I'm also waiting to try the Double Tap 115 grainers. The DT 147 grainers look real good too since, from what I heard, they'll be using Gold Dot 147 grain bullets. spcwes 08-29-2005, 10:01 I do not use Corbon’s because I have seen to many test of their bullet coming apart. The Double Tap is going to run less pressure, run faster, and hit harder and do it all with a proven bullet design. The Gold Dot! Which will hold up for any speed the 357sig will throw at it. PARRIS G-23 08-31-2005, 18:55 i use 125 gr speer gold dots, or try some georgia arms 125 gr gold dots. there will be a gun show in g-vile on sept. 10. georgia arms will have a vendor there, that way you don't have to worry about shipping. all of their loads are hot. i will be getting some .40, and .357 sig. reasonably priced at about $14 for 50 rounds.(alot cheaper than speer ammo, and also hotter.) see ya there? Ghast 09-01-2005, 01:22 I do not use Corbon’s because I have seen to many test of their bullet coming apart. The Double Tap is going to run less pressure, run faster, and hit harder and do it all with a proven bullet design. In my experience Corbon 357 sig ammo also has neck tension problems. I got 1/8" setback with their 125 JHP from loading the magazine and putting it in the gun. Interestingly enough neck tension has also historically been a problem for Corbon's signature round, the 400Corbon. obxemt 09-01-2005, 17:29 I currently carry 125-grain Rangers in my G33, but would not hesitate to carry GoldDots or DoubleTap. Washington,D.C. 09-10-2005, 21:36 The very best in my G33 is Federal 125 grain JHP's.They are expensive and not easty to find.Very accurate and low flash.I tried Remington Golden Sabers and they had too much flash the quality control isn't great.I now carry Speer Gold Dots in my G33.They are good quality and low flash.I haven't tried Winchesters and I doubt I would like PMC's but I haven't tried them in 357 Sig.Hornay XTP's aren't bad but nothing to write about.Speer Gold Dots are easiest to find and a good price. Mister Joshua 09-12-2005, 14:20 Another bump for doubletap. Virtually no flash in low-light conditions, compared to Speer - and at least 100+ fps faster. Corbon also has a low flash, but the results of ballistic tests on their rounds have left me wanting. Hornady 147 xtp's shoot a ball of flame comparable to a hot reload... with similar kick - pretty killer ballistics, however... maybe good for hunting, but I would rather not be blinded in a nighttime gunfight. I use Speer Gold Dots when I am out of Doubletaps. I have a strong preference for the DT's. TJS 09-12-2005, 14:24 Anybody use any of the PMC Starfire .357 Sigs??? Any thoughts? spcwes 09-12-2005, 14:40 I have not used the starfire HP's but I have heard that they do not expand very well in any caliber and the 357sig would have a small Hollow cavity so I would not think they would do they greatest. vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
