View Full Version : Mount Eotech on A2 handle?

I have just installed the ARMS 39A2 mount on my Bushmaster AR-15 A2 carbine.
I can mount the Eotech 512 either above the handguard, or directly above the A2 handle.
Do you think it would be OK to mount it on the A2 handle?
Does it hurt if it is getting further away from the bore?

You don't want to get that high above the boreline if you can help it.
Get the ARMS gooseneck mount (don't feel like lookin' up the number) and that'll put it where it needs to be.
Here's a link w/ a pic: not my rifle! (http://homepage.mac.com/gamecockfan/Sale/PhotoAlbum17.html)
Dude, the ARMS 39A2 is the one in your buddy's pic, the same thing that Michigunner mentioned.
I would put the EoTech on the rail above the handguards, like Silver's friend has it. Putting it on top of the carry handle places the center of the window over 3" above the bore axis.

Thanks! That looks exactly like my mount, ARMS 39A2.
I was concerned about getting the Eotech too high, and it's good to hear you confirm that.

I might also mention that you cannot see the front iron sights in the Eotech picture, when using this configuration.
I was very surprised.
Some of the guys on another board told me that's the way it works with this combination.
You cannot co-witness since the front sights are not visible.

Get the gooseneck mount and put it above the front handguard.

MrMurphy, I have the gooseneck mount. To the best of my knowledge the ARMS 39A2 is the gooseneck.
I was told in another thread that the mount was first made for the Aimpoint, but the Eotech came along much later, and would not allow co-witness usage, even when you put the Eotech above the hand guard.

Bill, you are correct. Odd it won't co-witness. And yes, it was made for the Aimpoint; but well, I thought they were the same height.
Wait, the traditional mount, the ARMS 22M68 uses a spacer to bring it to height. I guess...if you use the 39 mount with the EO, then you'll be under the post. Sucks.
Looks like you'll just have to get a RAS and mount it up there.

On the subject of co-witness:
One of the fellows on another forum said I would have to get an A3, remove the handle, and mount the Eotech there.
Or, get an Aimpoint for my existing configuration with the ARMS 39A2.
It's not too much of a disappointment. The Eotech will be a lot of fun to play with.
I'm going to sight it at 50 yards, and hope that is good enough for most cases from 50 to 200 yards.
It will just be used for plinking and a little target practice.
Thanks for your kind reply, USMCsilver,
