View Full Version : Missing slide lock?

Went shooting with a buddy yesterday. He'd never fired a G29...lent him mine and a box of ammo (DoubleTap). I was busy testing his vintage P38. After the shoot and before cleaning, I noticed the Slide Lock and spring are missing???;P
I've never removed/replaced slide locks before. Checked Glockmeister and am glad to see the parts are cheap, but wondered about proper installation. Where can I read up on installation process? Easy/Difficult? Rather learn to work on gun myself versus having to relay on Gunsmith.
Thanks,
Buffalo

The process is easy, but you have to know what to do to get the spring in right. The AGI Armorer's video shows the complete disassembly and reassembly of the Glock pistol. There are other video's out there, but I have not watched them. Good luck!!

Nothing to it. See the attached two photos. This is my G30 same part as your 29. In the first, see how the spring is oriented with out a Slide Lock in there. Then compress the spring from in front and slide the Slide Lock in over the spring. Be sure it's oriented like in the bottom photo. Narrower part up and notch toward the mag well. Should be good to go.

I would suggest watching someone who knows how to put it in; or buy a video that will show you. That part can go in several ways, but the gun will only function right one way. Look carefully at the notch in the lock, it can only go one way.

Or you can look at my photos and do like I said and be back in action. No rocket science involved.

Thanks guys...appreciate the photos T. Harless. As they say, a photo is worth a 1000 words...seems very straight forward.
I'll be ordering the Lock & Spring tomorrow, mini project this weekend ;e

Just remember - the horizontal groove on the slide lock goes "up and to the rear".

That is probably a better description than my "notch toward the mag well". Randy, other than that, my photos and instructions should get 'er done, yes?

Good pics Todd. You da man on this one. Most of the tech links don't do that great of a job showing the slide lock/spring install. Much better pic than most I've seen. Nice help for folks.
