I shot horrible today with my G37. I know that it was an issue with me and not the weapon as I've had great days up until today. But, for some reason, I just couldn't get it right today. The one thing that I did do OK with was double taps. I managed to keep the second shot within 6-8 inches from the first, which for my skill level is good!
But when I shot with a "concentrated aim" (10-15 seconds per shot), the further away the target was, the lower and wider-spread my shots were. I was holding OK groups at 7 yards, but at 25 yards, I was shooting about 10-12" spreads, all well below POA, and some shots missing the target paper completely (undoubedly low).
What is proper sight alignment that far out? I was placing the front sight white dot slightly above the "x" (about 1/2") and centered within the rear sights. At 7 yards, I've found that placing the front sight dot directly over the "x" and centered within the rear sights is about right (for me anyway!)
Point of aim is about the same, but the 25 yard distance magnifies any operator sighting/trigger problems. It just takes practice, lots of it.

one suggestion
dry fire, alot
another suggestion
at the range rack a round into the chamber, then drop the mag out, then fire the round in the chamber at your target downrange, and then dry fire the now empty gun (also at the target downrange)....
if you are moving the gun all over the place when dry firing you still need to work on it more
if you are at the range and you arent shooting as well as you think you should be, dry the live/dry fire thing a couple of times....

Thanks for the suggestions, especially the live/dry fire exercise -- I will try it out. I know I don't dry fire as much as I should....having to rack the slide in between each dry fire gets to me and I'm not confident enough in my gunsmithing prowess to install any conversion kits that allow dry firing without racking the slide...

PRACTICE POINT OF AIM (SIGHT PICTURE) AND TRIGGER CONTROL (DRY FIRE)
AND IF YOUR LIKE ME, THERE ARE DAYS I MIGHT AS WELL THROW THE GUN AT THE TARGET. I'D COME MORE CLOSE TO HITTING IT!

Try loading the plastic bullets in with the live ammo. You can spread them out in the magazine and youll never know when you will pull the trigger on one. It will show you if you are flinching when firing. You will have to tap/rack the slide when that happens. Its all good practice.

Do they have plastic .45 GAP bullets available? If so, where would I find some?
Cheers

Im not sure if they do to be honest, but the theory is the same for any caliber. If you have any other caliber weapon you can still practice with the plastic bullets. The idea is to sharpen your shooting skills as a whole, that goes for any gun you fire.
