Anybody ever polished their stock G30's barrel?

This past week I attended a training course at which one of the fellows had his G17's barrel polished up to almost a mirror finish. I thought he had a SS barrel in it, but sure enough, it was stock... I came home from the training and tried it on mine... With an 8" buffing wheel, some white rouge, and about 15 minutes of time, I now have a very shiny barrel. The lock-up is a bit smoother now, the look is pretty nice, and cleaning it seems a lot easier. Stuff just wipes off as nothing seems to stick to it.

Anybody else done this to their stock barrel? Any issues? This guy didn't have any problems with his, but I'm just wondering if anybody'd had any...

.yes, I have polished several of my glock barrels. they look nice and performed good I have polished several of the inside parts. they seem to work better

Not the entire barrel here, just the muzzle. I wouldn't want any part of the gun aside from the muzzle to pick up ambient light in a home defense event.
