well, the .40s&w caught on with the police, as did the .357 sig regarding "new" cartidges. some have even come full circle back to the 9mm or .45acp after seeing through the hype.......
so, what police agencies issue the .45gap? is it still too early? or is it going the way of the .356TSW and the .40A.E.?
i know a few ammo makers and gun makers are putting out some, but who outside of glock talk has taken up the gap flag on a professional basis?

thanks.
The latest Glock Autopistols 2006 mag states that there are 23 agencies that have bought 45GAP pistols, inlcuding one SWAT team.
Denver PD approved the GAP in early 2005. Out of the 200 officers that were hired that year, more purchased the GAP than ACP. I believe that it will find a nice place in law enforcement. We love the round and the Glocks made for it.

The market is saturated with good offerings right now. Even so, there are already 23+ departments that chose to issue the GAP in its first two years on the market. I understand that number is growing fast now that the Glock 38 and 39 are available for concealed carry and back-up.
I don't know that it will ever leave other common calibers in the dust, but it has already proven to be a viable option.

Is that 23 number actually PD's who have adopted and "issue" G37 pistols to their officers, or just approving the GAP for duty use? Big difference.

According to the Glock Annual, that's the number that issue it at the time the article was written. It's sure to be higher now, and doesn't take into account departments that allow it but don't issue it.

If that is true that is a big feather in the GAP's hat.

Of course Glock is going to post a good report of a cartridge that bears their name. Then again, they can't lie about how many departments issue it, and what results they're getting in shoot-outs. So far so good, I'd say.
Hunington Park P.D. gives the officer a choice between the G37 or the G22.

Springfield started making the XD in .45 GAP almost as soon as it came out (I was aware of the SA before the Glock).

My local police dept issues the gap as standard duty for all, they traded sig p220's in. They are very happy. Sanford, NC dept, also Airport police issue the gap.:alien:
My PD just made the switch from 21's to 37's.
I qualified yesterday and so far (60 rounds x 8 guns) no problems.
I like the smaller grip frame of the GAP guns better that the ACP ones...seems to fit my hand better.
I've recently heard that Kennebunkport, Maine and the Georgia State Police have approved the GAP as well.
Hey NIB, given the choice between the G37 and the G22, which are the officers choosing?
