When and why did Dodge go from 6 lug to 5 lug in the half ton?
Any help would be great.
Thanks
Jeb

Dodge never has had a 6-lug 1/2-ton, at least not as far back as `67.
I've owned a `67 a `73 a `79 an `87 and an `01 1/2-ton and they were all 5-lug.

Chevy, Nissan, and Toyota have all used the same 6-lug pattern.

The W100 truck in the 1960s had eight lugs while the D100 had five.

The Dakota's are 6 lug until 2005, then 5

The Dakota's aren't a 1/2 ton platform though. It's considered a 1/4 ton since it's a mid-sized truck. I don't know why they used a 6 lug on the Dakota/Durango, but it sucks...I would love to get a set of the 17" Dakota/Durango R/T wheels for my 98 Ram. As far as the 1/2 tons, they've had a 5 lug pattern since the 60's...two different sizes though.
