hey fellow glockers, you all have me seriously thinkin' about a G34 to go with my trusy G17.. couple qustions for you.. are there any problems shooting standard pressure loads out of the G34 (WWB FMJ's).. i was just wondering with the longer, heavier slide if the standard pressure 9mm had enough ooomphh!! to reliably cycle the slide...I know my carry/HD rounds Cor-Bon DPX will have enough authority to cycle it.

and also, what is the trigger weight of the G34?? and compared to shooting a G17, which do you like better?? and last, can i get a G34 with fixed sights and non-compensated slide????

thanks for any and all replies:)

The slide weighs about the same as the G17, that is what the cutout does. It will function fine with WWB ammo and even with lighter loads. The trigger on most is factory fitted with the 3.5 connector which is good for about a 4.5lb pull.
The G34 can be had with fixed sights or adjustable-they are easily changed. They are not compensated and the cut in the slide is purely for weight reasons. They shoot great, I really like the pointing qualities and the longer sight radius. Not a whole lot of difference with the G17, but it feels better to me.

I have owned two G17's... But once I got the G34 I had no reason to keep the G17's. The G34 outperformed the G17 time after time for me.

I shoot so much better with the G34 than a G17

same thing here, I traded my 17 for my 34 and don't regret it one bit!!!

I just recently purchased a 17 solely to shoot in GSSF along with my 34. The 34 has been my primary gun that I shoot in our clubs match's and have really fallen in love with it over the last year and a half or so. I've switched the sights out to Dawson's FO's, changed springs and running a Rocket trigger in it.

The last 4 Sunday's, we've had GSSF style match's at our club and have shot both the 34 and 17 every Sunday. My new stock 17 w/ fixed sights are giving me my best scores ever. It really has me scratching my head.^8

I shoot my 17 and 34 about the same during IDPA matches. However, I do have a 3.5# connector and extended slide stop on my 17(my 26 also).

I have been wanting to do some testing at longer ranges of 25-50yds. I suspect that the 34 will shine over the 17 at longer ranges. I have actually been considering trading in my 34 on a 20 or 29 lately because it doesn't seem to offer much of an advantage over the 17 but I am pretty fond of my 17(bought is new about 4 yrs ago).

I am not downing the 34. It is a fantastic handgun.

Just thought I would try to keep you confused.^8
