Okay, I need some help. I'm tossing up the idea of buying a pistol to toy with and put a suppressor on. Would someone please tell me what would be easier, a suppressor on a 1911 or one on a Glock 9mm? I am not really worried about what the cost would be right now, so let's not worry about which one would be cheaper.
I want something to toy around with and have as a pest control device too! Help me out. Please!!
1911 or glock, same issues will arrise. Cycle problems.
The top mfg like gemtech swr and aac have great products. You wont go wrong with any of those.

Please enlighten me on the cycle problems that you mentioned. I'm not familiar with much in this category so any knowledge is helpful.

Short answer: Both are a Browning-type design. To function properly, the barrel moves into and out of lockup. Adding weight to the barrel (the suppressor) retards that movement causing the gun to not function properly. Any major manufacturer can sell you a recoil booster (they go by different trade names) for the suppressors they sell. These pretty much eliminate the issue. Exactly how they do it is higher math that I don't completely understand but I know the Gemtech LID cycles 100% on the Trinity attached to my G19 and without the LID, it never cycles.
The easiest guns to suppress will be the ones with fixed barrels or the ones that come with threaded barrels from the factory.
Guns like the Ruger MK2 or MK3, Buckmark and Beretta don't rely on a tilting barrel mechanism to unlock so the suppressor can fit right on them.
Guns that come with threaded barrels like the USP Tactical use standardized parts and suppressor manufacturers usually have recoil boosters for that model to make sure they cycle properly.
The Glock 9s will work well if you purchase a silencer that has the LID or similar device. SWR, AAC and Gemtech all have excellent products that would serve you well.

Glock 9mm for sure. Get a SWR/GS9K3 or AAC/Evolution-9 and you will not have any problems.
