What does a 779 slide and frame mean?

Somebody is offering me a high cap 1911 with a 779 slide and frame made in italy by colt and this made me a bit curious about this set up.

Any info?

Siguraduhin mo lang na hindi peke. Made in Italy by colt? Post mo nang pics yung rollmarks.
Kung may kaibigan ka sa Aguinaldo, baka may "mabili" ka pang sealed na orig internal parts. ;)

You better check the frame, I doubt it if the seller said its colt. I bet the frame was made by PETER STAHL and also a good one. You need to be aware that there are three different kind of USGI slide. Namely soft side(c7790353),Hard slide(7790314) and National Match (7790314-NM). The numbers stand as the "drawing numbers". Several gunsmithing shops beside Camp Crame & Aguinaldo have those slide for sale. Beware of JETHRO 779 slide they are Paltik(gawa sa shop nila). Recent 779 slides are made in Israel and they are also very good. I hope this help.:) Check Ebay I've seen several every once in a while and doon ko nabili yung sa akin.
