View Full Version : MG owners...what's your income??
Ok, I've been thinking about it for a while now.
I'm not trying to gather loads of data to take advantage of you or anything, but for those of you that own machine guns, how much are you making each year from your occupation that you have $5K-$20K to blow on a gun?
Certainly nothing against yall, I'm just curious.
Thanks!:)

While I'm not in the league, I have a friend that has numerous FA's. I've never been so rude as to ask him his income, but he did say he purchase the guns instead of investing money in the stock market.
Ok, didn't think it was rude to ask anonymous internet people their income...but how about this one...
Would I be correct with the statement that the majority of full auto owners here make $60K+ per year?
Thanks, and sorry for hitting such a sensitive area. Next time I'll ask how long your...nevermind, that's personal as well...;)

asking anyone how much they make is rude. But that aside, you are still treading on a slippery slope because a persons income does not mean they will not eat top raman for 6 months to be able to afford a MG, or that they may have purchased theirs when they were only a couple of hundred bucks and never intend on selling because they could never afford to replace. Everyone has different priorities. I know people that make over 60k a year, have reasonable rent and still cant afford to purchase a single handgun because they can not manage their money and are always broke. All the same, I know people that make less than 30k a year and have several MG's.

This question has been asked before on Bowers' and a few other places. I was very surprised at some of the answers and then again I wasn't. Some guys had gotten into the NFA game in the not-so-distant past and had fairly impressive collections with very modest incomes. Some guys were in the $40K and below income range, but were smart about their money; they drove older cars (without trading every couple of years), didn't eat out, didn't run up credit card debts, or buy any other frivolous ****. Some guys were in jobs that allowed many overtime opportunities.
You're liable to get all kinds of answers and all kinds of unique situations to your question. The income level seems to be somewhat secondary to the desire for ownership; i.e. where there's a will there's a way.

You don't need a high income to own a MG or three. That's what credit cards and home equity loans are for! Your typical new car at $20K costs twice as much as an M16. Just a matter of where you want to put your hard earned money.

I bought my machine guns when they were "cheap". IE, ~$3k a pop.
I was just finishing up kindergarden around that time and my parents never let me have any cool toys :(

Wasn't that long ago. I bought a Vector Uzi for a little less than $3k in 2002 and an FNC sear for about the same last year. My RDIAS was a different story ($10k), but I came into some money that I wasn't expecting.
I dont own any class III but have a few friends that do. I dont ask incomes but to see who has what toys & whats a trans. & post sample will give you a idea when they pick up a new toy. A post mini will cost beteen 55000. to 65000. trans will be up around 300000 to 350000. So look at what they have not the income.

Anyone who wants something badly enough can get it.
NFA has neither income nor wealth test for purchase of Class III tools.
Therefore, if you want one, you can get it.
Ninja Monkey- Never seen an Uzi that cheap. But I did see a Mac 11 9mm FULL AUTO WITH SUPPRESSOR for $2500. That is real cheap in my book. I think that's about the cheapest full auto I've ever heard of. There was a time where I was actually considering buying it, but instead I decided on a Five-Seven and a bunch of other goodies ;)

This sums it up for me. My wife and I are comfortable, but our combined income isn't much over that range. Despite that, we budget well and get the things we want. I have two Les Baer 1911's, a Springfield M1a, a suppressed AR-15, a pair of Beretta 391's, and several other fairly expensive handguns, rifles, and shotguns. If I were in a state that allowed machine guns, I'd own one. I'd find a way to make it happen.
I'll admit that I don't put as much into "retirement" as many others in my income bracket. What some people don't realize is that a safe full of guns is a retirement fund, if it needs to be. I don't want to sell them, but it is always an option. If you buy the right ones, they do increase in value over time. That pretty much defines a savings account, in my opinion.

They were that cheap 3 years ago, before Vector ran out of registered receivers.
Do you think Mac's will go the same route?
Or are they always going to be the cheapst FA in the US?
Thanks
