I would suggest that income doesn't matter, rather think of the fact that with a classIII item the return is around 10-20% a year. Gee, my 401k is getting what? 3-4%? Savings account is 2.4%!!!!!
An Uzi that sold for $3000.00, 3 years ago will sell for what in 20 years? I you want an entry level gun a Resling (sp) would do. But it's all about supply and demand. A gallon of gas is what ever I want it to be if I'm the only one that has it.
Find a dealer that will take payments and just get in there now!
Have fun.
With anything its a chance you take all class III & etc can be gone with a swipe of a pen:(

It is not an investment unless you plan to sell. :)

Just a thought. Why not buy weapons with no paper work on them. Like from folks in the paper, and at gun shows. Why for investment purposes spend 10k on one gun that is controlled by the ATF? Spend the 10k on other weapons and keep the FA's for your own collection. I can see the full auto age coming to a end in my lifetime but not the other non Class III weapons. All in all spend the money on the sure sell stuff and leave the ClassIII in the gun vault.

Could be $800 (or the inflation-adjusted equivalent) because the FOPA might be reversed. Could be $800, because machineguns might be made illegal, period. Could be six figures, if current trends continue and no laws change. Lots of possibilities. What's the level of risk you're willing to take? I'd miss the money I've put into my machine guns if the value sunk overnight, but my retirement wouldn't be in jeporady.
I suggest that if you're wanting an exciting financial instrument where you won't whether you'll get your money back out of it, go buy junk bonds or something and leave machine guns to the people who want to shoot them.
