View Full Version : G26 for USPSA ?
How many of you use a g26 for USPCA production? I told one guy in our club that I intended to do so and he kind of snickered.

I have used a G26 in production before and actually did OK with it. I had one stage with some really far steel that I had trouble with but otherwise it was OK. I will use it again at more matches in the future.
I normally use a G17 for production but I like to change once in a while. You probably won't win but it is good practice for CCW.
I normally shoot and carry just like I would for CCW in these USPSA matches because I want to make it more real world so I sometimes even shoot a match using my Glock sport combat holster which I CCW in a lot of the time. I try to keep the USPSA matches for me as "PRACTICAL" as possible.

If you are shooting to compete it is not a good choice. If you are shooting because you like the gun and want to practice with it then go for it.

There are some upsides to shooting the midget Glock.
I've seen a guy who actually shoots them better (more accurately) than a G17 or G34. In this case, I think it's a case of his lower finger flexing and pulling the gun off target when he shoots the full-size models. Since there is nothing to grab on the G26, he is very accurate.
The slide also cycles faster, so theoretically you should be able to get faster split times.
Of course, reloads put you at a disadvantage.
I used one in IDPA for about a year because it was all I had. It was fun.
I shoot USPSA with a G26...
...will I win anything? unlikely
...do i have fun? of course :)
Guess it really depends on what your goals are with USPSA.

That would drive me to practice more with that G26 and then go whoooooop this guys butt and then see who's snickering. ;f
The great thing about USPSA is that it is home for just about any gun (and holster) you want to shoot.
Go for it.
People use to slight me for shooting a glock and told me that it wasn't a good competition gun.
Scores can tell a different story.
Thanks for the input. I plan to use the g26 at the next USPSA match on 10/8/05. If this post is still going I will let you know how it went. Glocks are pretty popular in the matches in this area, particularly the g19. By the way, for summer IDPA league, I used a Kahr p9 covert. Yes, I was disadvantaged in the reloads but I had fun using my carry gun. I bought the g26 after IDPA was over.
Used the g26 yesterday in the local USPSA match. That little bugger was awesome. I felt very comfortable and confident with it. One of our stages had a minimum round count of 59. Bottomline is that if I had to get rid of all my guns but one, this is the one I would keep. It doubles as a USPSA production gun as well as a great concealed carry piece.
Minimum round count of 59? Maybe a typo? Maybe 29? Max stage round count is 32.
Glad that you had fun with your G26. Once in a while we will have bug matches at the local IDPA shoots. A G26 shines in a bug match. BUG: Back UP Gun.

Clay1, you are correct about the 32 maximum USPSA round count; however, the 59 is not a typo. I guess that this was just a bonus stage that the guy who put on the match decided to add.

59 rounds??? sounds like they were trying to run u and your 26 right out of the prod. class and USPSA in one stage!!!;Q ;Q

The subcompact Glocks are often more accurate than their larger brethren. The spring system locks the gun up tighter. That's stock blasters mind you. Moving out to greater distances sight radius', trigger control etc.. have a greater affect.
59 rounds, that sounds like a grand time. I have trouble once in a while remembering my chorographed sequence of rounds to be fired in a 32 round stage. With 59 rounds I know that I would forget to engage a target. By the way, I have shot at IDPA matches that the whole match had less rounds fired in it than that one you are talking about.
Side matches are always fun.
