It should be a good time! http://www.gadpa.com/frm2005StateMatch.aspx Joe D 09-11-2005, 07:11 My wife and I will be SOs there. Glad the match has come back to a more central location in GA. kend 09-11-2005, 21:28 Central? The guys in North FL. are complaining about it being so far away....can't make'em all happy huh? I'm just glad somebody's having it. Ricky T 09-19-2005, 08:30 Originally posted by kend Central? The guys in North FL. are complaining about it being so far away.... It is the GEORGIA state match, not north florida championship. :) You coming Kenny? kend 09-19-2005, 09:59 Yep, there's a few of us coming up. byerly 09-20-2005, 14:13 Looking forward to it. Gary G23 09-26-2005, 20:53 I'll be there. Last time I was at that range was the 1991 Area Six USPSA match. Ricky T 09-27-2005, 04:46 Originally posted by Gary G23 I'll be there. Last time I was at that range was the 1991 Area Six USPSA match. You won't recognize the range, it doesn't look like it was in 91. onemangang 09-27-2005, 07:32 I'll be there! kend 09-27-2005, 09:45 onemangang, is the Fresh Air Barbecue still open? onemangang 09-27-2005, 13:03 Originally posted by kend onemangang, is the Fresh Air Barbecue still open? Yes but if you're in the area you need to try High Falls BBQ! Fresh Air is a true landmark but High Falls has them beat with their meat. They have chicken, beef and pork BBQ. Get the sampler. Fresh Air has the best stew though. All these opinions are brought to you by my ultra-keen palet! Ricky T 09-27-2005, 15:36 There'll be several moving targets and steel. kend 09-28-2005, 06:57 RT, ALL of my targets are moving targets....;f Is High Falls open on Sunday for lunch? We may stop by on our way home if we can find it. onemangang 09-28-2005, 07:16 kend, They are open for lunch on Sunday! BUT, if you REALLY want to put away some groceries go to Buckners Family Resturant. They are on the west side of I-75 at hwy 36. HFBBQ is right up the road from High Falls State Park. TC Rider 10-05-2005, 17:54 The Raleigh-Durham area should be well represented. I've got three others riding with me, plus we're picking up a fifth at the Atlanta airport. I know there's at least 2 other carloads heading down. Woohoo! frankt 10-05-2005, 20:14 The weather is looking good for Saturday. 60 and cloudy in the morning and going to 73 and sunny for the afternoon. Quite a bit cooler than we have been having. I worked as slave labor at the range today. We staged all the equipment in all 12 bays and started setting some of the stages. We are going back in the morning to finish setting stages, putting up cook tents and a million other things left to do. Come on down and shoot Saturday, walk ups are sure welcome, and bring a friend. We will have a big time.See you there! kend 10-05-2005, 21:29 Tammy is all over us right now with some nasty rain and wind, local flooding like I've never seen. Our range could be a sub base by morning. It's forecast to be over South Atlanta on Friday, does anybody have a number for Capel so I can check with him Friday morning before we leave? onemangang 10-06-2005, 07:30 Originally posted by kend Tammy is all over us right now with some nasty rain and wind, local flooding like I've never seen. Our range could be a sub base by morning. It's forecast to be over South Atlanta on Friday, does anybody have a number for Capel so I can check with him Friday morning before we leave? If I know Capel he would tell you to bring your raincoat and knee boots! We shot a match earlier this year in the RAIN! The rule was if you started the match in a raincoat you had to finish it in a raincoat! Capel had one of those cheap, clear ponchos. He cut a slit up to his neck in it. Worked pretty good actually but he looked funny!! Also, if you started the match with it zipped you couldn't unzip before you shot. I had a raincoat that had buttons as well as a zipper. I just buttoned my top button and I was dry and could draw ok. I'm heading up there mid-morning today to help. I'll let you know if I find out anything. Ricky T 10-06-2005, 15:18 Kenny: I'll try to find his cell phone # and will PM you tonight. But the weather channel predicted nice weather for Sat. ltgibson2001 10-06-2005, 15:38 I'll pm him with it Ricky. I had to call him a little bit ago. Ricky T 10-06-2005, 16:14 Roger that. Thanks. don't tread on me 10-07-2005, 17:00 Did the SO's shoot today? Ricky T 10-08-2005, 14:56 don't tread on me: The SO shot in the drizzle and rain on Friday. I just got back from the state match. It was a very good match, well run, friendly and efficient SOs, great courses of fire. The match was a shotgun start and that helped to move things faster for those motivated to shoot. I got done in 3 hours shooting 13 stages. There were moving targets, swinging targets, pepper poppers, partial targets and reduced targets. Every stages were straight forward and no hidden traps or tricks. Congratulations to the match director and the hard working staff. I've shot all 6 GA state matches, worked in 3 of them, one being the rangemaster and I've got to say that this is the best one. kend 10-08-2005, 21:01 ...I've got to say that this is the best one. I thought you were at our match last year....;f All kidding aside this was a fabulous match, we had a ball. The one thing I noticed and enjoyed very much was the fact that there were no surprise stages designed to trick up the shooters, very well designed cof's. Once again the SO's were great, byerly did his usual fabulous job. I love shooting his stages, thanks Gary! Thanks to Capel and the staff also, great match! Ricky T 10-08-2005, 21:17 Yeah Kenny, I shot your match last year. It was a good match also, BUT ... hehe.. a 5+ hour drive, two days of shooting, two nights of hotel room worn my butt out. South River is only an hour from my house, 13 stages in 3 hours !!! You can't beat that. ;a Fireant 10-08-2005, 21:40 Kenny, Are the results posted yet. We called to get an update from you, but I havn't heard. Roger kend 10-08-2005, 21:47 They were just posted, 2005 GA IDPA Match Results (http://www.gadpa.com/frmMatchResults.aspx), they're about halfway down the page. Fireant 10-08-2005, 21:58 Good job Kenny. Those stages look pretty cool. Did you loose Todd on the way? I know Bow season in SC ltgibson2001 10-09-2005, 08:47 Definately the best IDPA match that I have been to. Well designed and fun stages, the RO's moved you through quickly, and they had the scores on the internet the same day as the match. I wish all sanctioned IDPA matches were run that well. byerly 10-09-2005, 13:03 Best group of stages I've shot all year. Had a great time. Thanks to everybody for coming out. TC Rider 10-10-2005, 21:28 I sure enjoyed shooting the match and managed to get through without any of my usual brain farts. The stage were great and probably shot my best match of the year. Glock2234 10-10-2005, 22:01 I'm guessing because there were so few competitors. It shouldn't make any difference since the rule require awards for all division classifications, if there is a competitor. "Trophies will be awarded based on number of contestants per class and division and go to the top third of those competitors. One (1) trophy should be awarded for every three (3) shooters entered in a particular division and class. Each division shall stand alone and there will be no ‘high overall’ trophy awarded. Awards are to be presented in the following manner: Division Champion (overall highest score in division regardless of classification), 1st place, 2nd place, etc, in each classification and division. Example: 1-3 shooters in ESP/MM = 1 trophy. 4-6 shooters in ESP/MM = 2 trophies. 7-9 shooters in ESP/MM = 3 trophies. If there is only one competitor in a division/classification, there is only one trophy. If there are four competitors, there are two trophies. Sounds like they owe you one, and a few other people as well. Send Berryville an email. kend 10-10-2005, 22:10 Send Berryville an email. Good luck, they MIGHT answer you in time for next year's match..... TC Rider 10-10-2005, 22:26 ;b Glock2234 10-10-2005, 22:56 I'll bet Bill Wilson shot a revolver at the Nationals just so someone would get a second place Master trophy. He can also claim to have beaten Bill by two places. I think that was really cool that Bill would enter a Divison and get his ass kicked, just so someone would get a trophy and tell his pals how he stomped The Man. 24D 10-10-2005, 23:10 Teddy and I have worked this issue out offline. -Capel Glock2234 10-10-2005, 23:37 I don't take Teddy's comments as bitter, I take them as a comment on the lack of participation in revolver. There is no reason why anyone should have had to put up their own money, unless they get to keep the profit. Remember that for the future. Who should the participants complain to when they have a problem? Should they simply vent on the Internet? Would you like to have an opportunity to make it right? Would you like to have a chance to learn from the experience and possibly avoid problems in the future? Now as far as his bad timing, when do think he would find out that the rule had been overlooked and had not planned for his victory? Your only chance of being right is if he were disqualified. Match Directors and SOs are under appreciated. It's planning and attention to detail that makes the roles easier. Don't be the target, be the shooter. If you don't anticipate the problems, they will find you. You can not anticipate all of the problems, but some of them are fully avoidable. 24D 10-11-2005, 00:02 There is no reason why you should have had to put up your own money, unless you get to keep the profit. Remember that for the future ... I've never been an SO, MD or AC, but I know the rules. Unfortunately no one offered to loan me money to get our new IDPA clubb off the ground... -Capel Ricky T 10-11-2005, 05:04 Good for you Capes for sending the winner his plaque. Glad you recovered your personal funds. FWIW, you're not the first MD to accidentally left someone out of a plaque. Claude didn't have a plaque for the "high female", and he was confronted by a woman (who was not the high lady) that he should have had a plaque for the woman winner. He also bought her a plaque after the match. He learned from that too. It always amazes me, let a good thread runs long enough and it will turn out into a pissing match. FIDO. Joe D 10-11-2005, 06:12 Speaking of "High Female" plaques where's mine. I shot like a girl!!!! For those of you that have never run a match or SO'd one try it sometime. BTW the SOs got to shoot in the rain Friday, not in the sunshine Saturday. Audrey was excited to win her first plaque, she does not count her collection of High Female plaques, for 5th place SS in SSP. 277 was not too bad considering the conditions we shot in. I was glad to see my old bud Austin, still shooting at 80+. 24D 10-11-2005, 08:06 Joe D, I'm going to send out the awards for sub-category winners too. So Audry will be getting her High Lady plaque. I've got to order them so it may take a couple of weeks. 277 was not bad at all for shooting in the rain. She beat 35 other shooters in SSP. TC Rider 10-11-2005, 08:50 FWIW, Cabel and I just had a pleasant talk on the phone and all is well. For some reason I can't delete these posts, so I'm just editing out the unpleasantries. Jim Watson 10-11-2005, 09:15 I agree with Ricky's last line. Quarreling over a plaque for First Place out of one is just uncultured (in the full Russian meaning.) vBulletin® v3.7.3, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. | ![]() |
