View Full Version : Springfield custom shop
Well while my 1911 is at Springfield I am considering getting some custom work done. I am looking into a new trigger, hammer, grip safety.
Their pricing is as follows for Springfield parts:
$45 new trigger, $45 new hammer, $90 grip safety installation + refinishing, then they suggested I get a trigger job at another $90. Does this sound like reasonable pricing?

Doesn't sound out-of-line with what the custom smiths are charging.

That's not bad in my humble opinion. The bad side will be the shipping cost.

Shipping is free because its there for warranty work.
I am thinking about getting the hammer and trigger from them, buying the grip safety elsewhere and having a local guy do the trigger job and drop in grip safety.

I stand corrected, and with shipping covered I would probably have the work done without hesitation. I would most likely have them do the grip safety and avoid the "drop in" kind, especially if they are going to fit and refinish.

The free shipping is definitely a bonus. Hammer, trigger and grip safety all work together. If money is not an object, I'd have it all done at the same time by the same people.

Depending on the type of hammer they use it may be impossible to fit the hammer without installing a beavertail grip safety first.
I figured it out, its going to be about 180 without the trigger job. I really cant even afford that. I'd like all Springfield parts to make sure it works correctly.
