There were about forty Glock shooters in the match last Saturday, were any of them you?
What did you think of the match?
I broke my ankle and couldn't go, but they did send my money back. I'd rather have shot.

I thought the Ohio state match was in July!

This year they had it on September 10th. I was really excited about that as I thought the weather would be a lot nicer in September then in the middle of Summer. And it was!

The USPSA State match already happened earlier this year.
The IDPA match was recent.
Our local club recently started shooting some IDPA, so I was looking to join up. I called the home office to join...credit card in hand. They wouldn't let me join over the phone. Said I need to send in an actual application. OK.
So, I print off an app from the IDPA site and fax it in. I call them on Monday ready to pay again. Nope.
Sigh. Apparently, I have to have a witness sign the application too.
I am sure they have their reasons, but they do make it tough to join.
Anyway...sorry to vent about that, but I would have likely tried to make the match if they wouldn't have made it so hard to join the organization.
Scores posted anywhere?

Fill out the application completely and send it in, doesn't seem to tough to me.

Yeah...I guess. I just have a thing against companies that make it so hard for me to give them my money.
Sorry to drift the thread.
Anyway...nope...I didn't make the match.

What is so hard about filling out the form? Do you forget to sign your checks when you pay your bills?

Well, since you are so into it...
How about you popping over and signing the form as my "witness".
While you are at it, bring your check book...we'll pay my bills. :)
You are not a rookie at the shooting games. And you have enough sense to know that BW is not going to show up at your door do verify your witness signature. Don't play dumb and act like IDPA is a pain in the butt to join, it simply ain't true.

Yeah, no kidding. And, I've been able to shoot nearly every shooting game I can think of without having to jump through hoops to do so.
Don't play dumb...
Who is playing? ;g

It is a pain to join. That was my experience. You don't have to like it, but that is how I feel. Sorry.
To shoot IDPA matches, you have to be a member.
I call them up to join (I believe that was a toll-call, at my expense), credit card in hand, ready to give my information. They tell me they don't take applications over the phone. (strike 1)
So, I print off the application and fax it in...again at my expense. This is close to the end of the business day on Friday. I call then the following Monday to pay for the membership. They won't take it without a "witness". (strike 2)
I am at home...there is nobody around to play "witness". And, I have to admit, I think the idea of having somebody else sign my application...seems a bit odd to me. Oh well.
Like I say, to me...that is a pain. I tried to give them my money twice.
To shoot the State match, you had to be a member and you had to have shot the classifier. I did manage to shoot the classifier. Then, a shooting buddy (multi-gun IDPA Master) tells me that he believes that my membership needed to go through first for the classifier to count.
Long story...but, to get back on topic...that is why I didn't make the Ohio State IDPA match...with my Glock.
Not sure why you are making a big deal out of this? I wasn't looking to. Perhaps you think I am an IDPA basher?

Flex ... you may have my membership . . . I'm not using it anymore. ;f It expired in July and I'm not renewing it (100% because of BW).
On the topic ... I see that Mr. Bob Vogel kicked some major butt (again). I didn't really know much about him before he won this year's USPSA Indiana Section Match in Limited Division. Apparently he is equally adept at IDPA.

Thanks for all of the replies. At least it seems like those who got to shoot the match had a good time.
I was shooting with Bob Vogel when he was too young to buy his own handguns. He is a machine. A very nice, quiet young man who takes his shooting seriously. I haven't seen him in a couple of years, but I see he is still doing very well indeed!
Go get 'em, Bob!

Flex,
It used to be that your club would keep your classifiers on record for a while and then sign your membership card when you got it if membership was pending. I don't know if that's still the way it's done or not. ;Q

I found this on page 70 of the new rule book it says "Only currently affiliated clubs may award classifications and only current IDPA members may shoot the classifier or be awarded a classification by a club."
Their bolding, not mine.
I hope that helps clear it up.
