View Full Version : Is a loose slide to frame fit normal on a Glock 30?

Hello everyone. I just purchased my second glock this week, my first was a glock 26 that I had for about 2 years. I just recieved my glock 30 with rail. Comparing the two, I noticed a great deal of side to side play with my glock 30 as compared to my glock 26. And if I shake the gun, it rattles because of this. I just wanted to know if this is something common with bigger subcompacts such as the glock 30 when compared to the glock 26/27 or did I just recieve a bad frame or something. It feels cheaper and less stable because of this. I thought maybe it was because of the bigger heavier frame for the .45 I would like to know if this is common or not, from any owners out there. Any and all information and opinions are welcome. thanks
I had an older 30 for some time and it was fairly loose. I sold it (unfortunately) and recently had the opportunity to get a new one (with rail).
It has a bit less play than my first, but there is some nonetheless. I've put about 300 rounds through it and it is every bit as accurate as the first. As much as I like tight fitting guns, I'll take a reliable "rattle" over anything else.
I would think that since the slide is quite a bit heavier than that of a 26, it will seem like it has more play. I wouldn't worry about it, but that's my opinion.

There has been no sway between my frame and slide on my two G30's. I'd have it checked out by a GLOCK armorer that I trust.

My G30 has a very tiny amount of side play. Barely noticeable. But you can shake it side-to-side and it "rattles". This is a relatively new G30 (6 years old) with about 750 rounds through it.

update:
I sent that gun back to Davidson's "http://www.galleryofguns.com" through a local dealer and got a new one back in 2 days! Yes the frame fit is much much better on this one. Either one worked but if you have the warranty why not take advantage of it. Got too love Davidson's. You might pay a little extra but then again how many local gun dealers would exchange your fired gun for a another new one from factory. None of the dealers I live by would do that and if they would , it would have to be if something was very wrong with the gun to begin with not just a loose frame to slide fit. Buy from Davidson's, you won't be dissapointed.
My G30 slide rattles around quite a bit with no mag -- always did. And the barrel rattles around with the slide locked back big time. But it has NEVER failed to fire and eject, and is more accurate that my hold, as I can easily demonstrate on a rest. Pop a mag in and the rattles are gone. And it really doesn't seem to care whether I clean it or not. Stop worrying and enjoy shooting the little gem.
