An Area match? Very cool. My suggestions are watch your 180s, seems every match lately has had 180 traps, & have fun. Be especially mindful of the 180s during reloads. One thing you don't want to do is go home early. Stay for the whole thing & have plenty of fun. Shoot your game, whatever it is. If you intend to win, well, that is good but don't be surprised if some folks beat you. ;P If you can possibly reload on the move, & not at slide lock, that would be a big help. Flat footed reloads are very time consuming. Most of the good production shooters I've watched reload every time they move. Oh yeah, one more thing, hit A's!!!! Did I mention to have fun? :) Good luck, do well. MLM Mud 09-12-2005, 22:50 my first non static match i have shot Gssf type matches before and luckily I work at a gun shop/range so we have been shutting down one half of our range and working on shooting/moving/ reloads buddy of mine is a B class shooter what exactly are 180's? Flexmoney 09-13-2005, 03:05 Originally posted by Mud what exactly are 180's? 180 degrees...out of 360 degrees...gun needs to never point past the 180 line (there is no real line, so don't get close). Also, make sure to keep you finger completely out of the trigger guard except when actually engaging targets. Shooters new to the game often will want to reload with their finger in there, or move beteen positions with the finger in, or, clear jams with the finger in the trigger guard. Just be safe, have fun, and do what it takes to hit the A-zone...don't get caught up in everybody else's speed. Have a great time! rhino465 09-13-2005, 11:14 Originally posted by Mud Im shooting my first match and it will be the AREA 5 champs on the 24 of this month. im shooting Production with a 34 any tips 1. Learn the rules before you go. www.uspsa.org 2. Obey all of the safety rules to the letter, all the time. Getting DQ'd and sent home from your first match sucks, but if you point the gun uprange (i.e. break the 180 as mentioned before), sweep yourself or someone else, move with your finger in the trigger guard when you are not engaging targets, reload with your finger in the trigger guard or any of the other safety violations, you will be sent packing. There won't be the kind of "compassion" newbies get at club matches when they mess up. 3. Take your time and get your hits. Trying to go fast is only going to result in a lot of misses or bad hits, which will increase your time as well. You can learn to go faster later after you've mastered the basics of shooting a match. 4. Have fun. I will be there. I'm shooting on Thursday, then doing the scores through Sunday afternoon. I'll be the extremely grouchy (by Sunday) big guy in the club house cursing at the computer and threatening to pistol-whip anyone who bothers me. ;f Flex ... what day are you and Steve A. shooting? Clyde 09-13-2005, 11:24 Shooting Friday - Helping Saturday Shooting Limited with fomeister Gun (Hopefully he well not shoot all the Alfa's out of it before I get it) Hint - Bring Water, Snack, Sunscreen, Hat, Chair (Rain Jacket) - most of all have fun - ask question if you are not sure - before you shoot that is. Me...I am gonna 'stay on the porch and bark'. ;a It's me, isn't it! You're not shooting because you heard I was going Limited with my single stack and you fear my mad, crazy skills! Admit it! ;f Flexmoney 09-15-2005, 16:26 Heck...you already scared me into shooting Production for the past few months. Ya brute. bulm540 09-15-2005, 17:41 I'll be there, I think squad 34. see ya cousin Rhino. rhino465 09-17-2005, 19:01 Originally posted by Flexmoney Heck...you already scared me into shooting Production for the past few months. Ya brute. Let that be a lesson to you, then! ;f I'm not even going to be a "threat" to the D-class Limited 10 shooters if I don't fix my accuracy problem toot-sweet. I'm either jerking the trigger or my pinky and ring finger are squeezing again after the trigger press, because I'm shoot low/left frequently. It gets worse when I "try" to shoot an accurate shot. I've got tomorrow's club match to fix it. ;) rhino465 09-17-2005, 19:02 Originally posted by bulm540 I'll be there, I think squad 34. see ya cousin Rhino. Awesome, Cousin BulM540! I'm shooting on Thursday with the rest of the range staff. I'm doing the scores, and all cousins get a 50% discount on bribes! ;f Flexmoney 09-17-2005, 20:08 Joey-da-score, I think Steve said he was shooting Sunday...with Ken Ja and Lynn Jones' squad. For that trigger, try a little less grip with your strong hand and a little more with your weak hand. ;b bulm540 09-18-2005, 10:36 Originally posted by rhino465 Awesome, Cousin BulM540!
