View Full Version : A picture of my pre-war colt
This is a 1939 National Match Colt 1911. I'm very proud of this gun because I'm the 4th generation in my family to own it. Just thought I'd share a picture with you guys!
Sorry. Kind of a bad picture.

Would you adopt me? Really awesome gun!
This Colt was my first gun. Some of my friends shot guns, and I always wanted to try it. I told my dad I was going to buy a gun , and he sayed he had one of his grandfathers "laying around". So he gave me the Colt and I took it to the gun shop to get it inspected. When I opened the gun case, the store owners eyes lit up. When he realized I didnt know what I had, he offered me $300. I did some on-line investigating and found out how special pre wars are. My dad now tells me he has a Colt woodsman "somewhere in the attic". I think I could just puke! Obviously my dad isnt a gun guy, but he sure gave me something cool that I can hand down some day.

My FLG had one through the shop. Even in used and abused condition it still exuded Class and Quality. I would rather have one than any Ichirio Nagata centerfold.
Actually, he was right. It is worth about $300. I'll give you $350, just because its a sentimental piece.;i
Seriously, looks like its in very good condition and I'd keep it for the next generation to cherish if I were you. I'm not gonna venture to guess what its worth to a real COLLECTOR (not dealer), but I'd bet its gonna be worth much more than $300.
One just sold in California ten serial numbers away from mine for $5000. But I would never sell mine.
That gunstore guy who offered you 300 was a scumbag. I hope you don't go back there. BTW, what store was it?

Wow that is very nice. I think you need to get some better pics of it and post them. I think you should go back to the dealers and string him along a little. Tell him you were thinking $350 and then change your mind to $400 and finally tell him you think maybe you will just keep it.

The gun store is called Michi-gun in St. Clair Shores.

Weezer, you have a super choice piece there. What a beauty! Don't ever - EVER - get rid of it if you can help it. Pass it down to your kids.
Hi Weezer,
Can I have it?
