I was at a local gun shop and was looking at a used S&W 1911. They were asking $675 for it. I do not know what model it was other than it was stainless.
Is this price decent for a used S&W?

Mint S&W 1911s are going for that price. I've seen them even higher at local gun shops here in the north east. I paid about $650.00 for mine through gunbroker.com

I paid $700 for mine new with adjustable sights. If your going to spend that kind of money fork up another $100 or so and get the SC or DK model. I love mine. ;c
Paid $635.00 for mine. Lightly shot by a PI type. Great gun IMHO.
PASS. You can get a new one for that or less with a little shopping. I just saw one in my area the other day for 550, with box.

I went back to the gun shop today to look at the 1911. When I asked what a new costs, he told me about $710. It looks like I will pass on this one.
It was a nice pistol. He also told me that S&W slides are made by Kimber. Anyone else heard this before?

No....actually, Smith & Wesson used to provide Kimber with raw frame and slide forgings, but Kimber makes their own now.

I sold a Smith 1911 not to long ago for $550.00 wish I would have kept it now! ;g
A plain stainless steel s&w is $799.00 at my local Gander Mountain. Isn't that about $100.00 high for the standard model?

I like the silver with black safeties, slide release, extractor, sights, msh, etc. Kinda like a Scandium Eclipse;)
