i posted something similar to this on general glocking but i want to get opions from people here in the 357 club. i bought my first handgun (g19) about 5 months ago. I love it, but maybe im getting that glock itch again. I saw the numbers in my manual on the 357 so i shot it next to my 19 last week. Unbelievable. A pleasure to shoot. Had my 9 feeling a little watered down in comparison. I've read alot of talk on this site about how 9mm is as or almost as good and also about how 357 is alot better. My questions are, how significant is the barrier penetration difference between the two, and, is there much difference in the damage caused by each. I know, i know im probably splitting hairs but i gotta rationalize buying the 32 somehow.
The barrier penetration with a good bullet will be better. The power if you care about it is greater. The permanent crush cavity or permanent wound cavity will be about the same in Gel. The temporary wound cavity is greater as well if you care about it.
You may open a can of worms if you ask if it is a better stopper but I would say that with good ammo and good hits you can get just about anything done with a 9mm as you can with a 357sig.
If you can shoot it as well as a 9mm and can find a good place to get ammo to practice with then there is an edge with the 357sig. It will have a little more recoil and 2 less rounds. If you can handle it those things do not matter. I love this round and use it more than any of the others I have pistols in. If you use ammo from companies like Double Tap or Georgia Arms you can really maximize the potential of what the round was intended for.
Even if the edge is small would you not want it?
From my own experience I can say the Glock 32 is awesome, light and unobtrusive to carry, and I hope to soon be stocking mine with 147-grain Double-Tap. I use 125-gr. DT now and it is low-flash (read no fireball at the muzzle like some .357) and to me low-recoiling. I also use DT 125's in my SIG 229 .357 and I give the Glock a slight edge because I like the Glock trigger and system a tad more. Just like a DA revolver, except I have modified my trigger with a NY-1.

the g32 is more punishing to shoot (IMO) then teh G19. i have a SIG p229 (with both .357 and .40 barrels) and i usually keep teh .357 barrel in it. but i tend to carry my p226 9mm the most. if you like the .357 get one, i doubt you need one just like i dont 'need' the .357 magnum i just bought. SIG has good barrier, but ammo is expensive.

You better hope your wife doesn't read GT! ;f
I say GO for the 357 Sig ! My police department just went to the Glock 31 for our duty pistol. We carry the Winchester Ranger 125gr. ammo and I am very pleased. So happy that when they sent me to Glock Armorer's school that a Glock 32 followed me home. My wife gave it to me for my belated birthday gift.
I have a gun that I can shoot (3) calibers on with just a simple barrel change. In fact I just ordered my new KKM 9mm conversion barrel for the G32 on Tuesday :)

Yes. You need a 357sig. Your financial situation will change for the better. Your sex life will improve. Wine will taste a bit sweeter. I've even heard of STD's just disappearing overnight, though I would'nt count on that one.

no, but your ears will be ringing for a while.
Another good sales tag is that you'd have to carry three six-shot .357 revolvers to out-capacity one G32. HA! now go out and buy that G32!

Just buy the 32, you'll be happy. I have a G19 with 124+P GoldDots and am totally satisfied with it. My 32 rocks with GoldDot 125 ammo. Have yet to try the DT .357 ammo as I've heard many good things about it..D

The question isn't do you need one, but do you want one. Sure!

Any shooting you do without ear protection will cause PERMANENT hearing damage!
As for the 32.....Just get it! Ya know ya want too! :)
Lets just say that the US Secret Service uses it to guard the
President. That in it's self speaks volumes about the
effectiveness of the caliber.
I don't know what loading they use, but I do know that the
Speer Gold Dots (124grn) have been shown to have superior
barrier penetration, especially through auto glass.

Love my Glock 32. In fact I've been buying it presents. Like extended controls, extra mags, and now going for some night sights. Might evem send the slide off, to get it a new hair color finally
