I have an old series 70 that was customized back in the early 80's for ipsc. It has a swenson bevertail grip safety. Does anyone know if any modern (hi grip & memory grove) safeties will fit without leaving a gap between the frame and the grip safety. I tried wilsons ,it would leave a gap.

If you can't find one that fits like you want you may have to take it to a good gunsmith that does great finish work, that is if money is not a problem. What year of Impala SS do you own?

I'm starting to come to the same conclusion. I have tried some of the new hi grip safties on new guns and if I grab them high I can still activate the safety which is why I deactived the old grip safety in the first place. I might just leave the old safety on ,I only use the gun for IPSC. My Impala SS is a 95 with 60000 on the clock but every time I tke it out for a road beat I get stuck behind a trash truck or a 85 Buick . Later, Frank

I had a DCM 95, but black ice, 55, and spun head on into a concrete barrier took care of that, been crying ever since.

Try a Wilsons Comander style.
You'll have to touch up the grip safety with a file but it is supposed to fit better for just a drop in.

You could try sending it to someone like EGW or Don Williams and have them weld the tangs back up so you could install the type of grip safety you wanted.

Ive known George @ EGW for years and the gun is going to him soon for a fiber optic sight and a dust shield crack repair. I was just hopeing there was simple old to new replacement that someone came up with to replace all the old bevertail grip safties. Nothings simple!

You can rest assured that it will be in good hands at EGW, I would ask George, there aren't many people out there that know more than George about pistolsmithing.
