Can the internal locking system on the Springfield's 45 be replaced with an aftermarket part? Thanks for any input.

Sure can, use any style mainspring housing of your choice. You will have to change the "guts" also, and don't forget you'll need a retainer spring since the ILS doesn't use one. Good luck.

Do you know what web site I can goto to buy the part....I want to get rid of that internal lockings system thats comes installed with the gun. Thats one thing I dont like about the Springfields.

The wilson combat MSH is very nice... and gives you additional grip as well. A friendly heads up that the 1911 forum has some nice instructions on taking apart and assembly of your pistol..
the ed brown reduced power mainspring is also a nice part to add to your pistol...
be sure to wear some safety glasses when working on springs under tension... :) If you have problems with assembly many of us would be happy to help you out on the phone... you will need a soft cloth to work on and a 1/8 inch pin punch.... The job is very easy to complete... and a good introduction into the functioning of your pistol...
