Well I went to the gunshow today in Lakeland. I think it was more for relic hunters than anything. There were a ton of older guns there, if you were looking for an old P38 or a Luger, or a long gun, almost every table had one. I went through the entire show (both rooms) twice looking for an MK Elite. I saw one Kahr a PM91, and since I already have a PM40, I kept moving. On my last pass through the second room I found as I was walking out my new Kahr...
I found a K40 Wilson Custom. It has a "Bear Coat" and Metalloy slide, soft smooth trigger job, beveled mag well, checkered front strap, and is completly dehorned. God the slide on this runs as smooth as silk. It reminds me of how smooth the action was on my Caspian 1911 tack driver!!!
I know I was searching for an MK Elite, but this looked too good to pass up. I saw the Blue book on this and it was only made in limited quantities and worth around $1199.
If anyone can tell me where to look for more info on this K40 as to how many were manufactured, etc., I'd really appreciate it. This one has a low serial number on it as well.
As for the MK Elite...Manatee county has a Suncoast gunshow at their Civic Center this weekend as well, so I'm going to find my MK.
Congrats!! I think you will enjoy shooting the K series alot. I'm sure either Kahr or Wilson can tell you the number of these limited production guns. I'm sure there were not many. I have only seen one in person and one in a magazine. They are nice. In fact seeing the one Wilson Combat custom in person (unfortunately I couldn't shoot it)was the reason I had my own K40 customized by Cogan Custom APW. I know you'll enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Happy hunting in Manatee.

I'll take some soon and post them. I'm going to order the smooth grips like you've got on your MK tomarrow from Kahr.
I also went to the other gunshow, saw lots of Kahrs only one was Elite. It was an MK 9 Elite 2000. It was all black (some coating they used to put on them). Another thread on the Kahr club website someone had mentioned the rarity of this gun. They said they spoke to Dottie at Kahr and she said they only produced around 100. One of my buddies had a table at the show so I grabbed his blue book. They were produced between 2000 and 2001. Top condition, it was worth about $650 on the lower scale it was $495. The guy wanted $400 for it but it was all scratched and nicked up (that bugs the crap out of me). Had it been in better shape I would've paid more for it. So the MK Elite search continues. I'm going for a MK9 Elite since I already have two 40's.
If you know the name of the guy who had the Elite 2000, e-mail me with it. I would be interested in looking at it.

Sorry bail I don't. What's the big deal on these things anyhow?
As I understand it the MK9 Elite 2000 is a limited production MK9 Elite with a Birdsong Black T finish. A friend of mine has one with nightsights and I have always admired his. I have no idea how many were made or its value.
never seen one of those - got to look that one up - sounds really nice

Bail,
The finish on it was gloss black, the slide and action were nice. If I would have bought it I would've had to send it out to get refinished for probably a few hundred bucks. It wasn't ugly...it just wasn't pretty enough for me.
The blue book said it was maufactured for 2 years (2000-2001).
New...I'll bet it was beautiful.
I don't know how durable the Black T finish is. How much of the finish was missing? Was it just wear from carrying or some type of abuse? I have always heard that Black T was a very expensive coating and you're right it would have cost you a few hundred bucks to refinish. I have always chosen hard chrome when refinishing a handgun. It ain't real pretty but in our climate it is a good choice for a carry gun.

It was a very glossy finish (Brand new that gun would've looked beautiful). It looked as if it wasn't cared for. It had scratches on the slide, scratches around the slide stop area where the slide lock lever is inserted (kind of like when an inexperienced person is putting the gun back together). the frame had deep scratches as well.
It looked like a kid owned it.
