My Alessi Ankle Rig:
I got it...and I love it!!!
I finally found someone that had it in stock. Ordered it and I received it three days later in the mail. Worth every penny; I highly recommend it. :)
EDIT: Forgot to mention it's for my PM9. :)
The Alessi ankle rig is IMHO the best of it's kind. How is your PM9 behaving? Have you shot it anymore? Give us an update if their is one.

Coolness, Carla!
I'm not a big fan of ankle rigs, personally, but if ya had to buy one, at least you bought from the hometown boys!

I did get out shooting a couple more times with no problems whatsoever with the PM9. I'm confident that my "break-in" period is over and I absolutely LOVE using this ankle holster. I've carried my gun more in the past several days than I have all times put together before Friday. LOL!

I've had my (J frame) Alessi since '79.
Without a doubt, the standard by which ankle holsters are measured.

Roundeye... true they are not the quickest route, but I'd rather carry it on the ankle than not at all. :) Besides...the Glock goes on my hip. ;)

If someone were carrying only an ankle gun, how does one engage an aggressor quickly. Don't most attacks occur rather quickly in most cases? I'm only asking, I'm not challenging or debating anyone! Ankle would probably be a more comfortable wear on your person.

Alright GWG!!!!!
I'm glad to see that you like it and your PM is performing well. Be safe:cool:

I suspect that if GWG were to carry her PM9 in her ankle holster while wearing shorts, few would notice the firearm.

There is a step-down technique for initiating a relatively rapid draw, but you're still in boot in the teeth range of your aggressor.
Ankle holsters are more for the discrete transport of small firearms than they are for rapid draw in an immediate SHTF situation.
They also allow the firearm to be in hand in those rare instances where one anticipates serious social interaction but escape is impossible.

Because I teach my own course I have complete control over content, and am constantly researching incidents that actually happened to someone someplace to provide the most useful info I can to my students.
In a recent attempted robbery in Ohio at a hotel/motel check in counter, the clerks assessment of his own actions are very "eye opening" (the BG was down in less than 3 seconds after he cleared the holster). He stated he would not ever want to contend (under stress) with anything but an open top strong side holster (no retention, thumb break, or security devices of any kind). While he didn't address ankle holsters it's plain he would have been disadvantaged and probably not as able to draw successfully.
The wearer of an ankle holster would pretty much have to see the assault coming from 30-40 feet away in order to have time enough to drop down, lift foot (while balancing on one foot under stress!) or otherwise position self and draw.
In another incident an individual was faced on the street by 3 scruffy looking characters, one asked for a light. The lone individual looked at how close all 3 were, guaged his ability to draw from the ankle in time and realized it wouldn't work. So he said "Don't smoke" and walked on leaving them apparently unprepared for that answer. When he reached his hotel room he tossed his ankle rig in the suitcase never to wear it again. Shopped immediately for a good strong side rig.
To Girl With Glock:
Me being a 67 year old slightly overweight guy who knows he doesn't look very appealing in close fitting jeans and showing midriff (Women and kids might even cover eyes and gasp, men roll on ground laughing...) it is real easy for me to tell folks to "dress around the gun".
My PM9 fits well in a cheap Triple K belt slide for the Colts and draws up high and close enough to the body to be covered by a loose fitting tee or polo. I've seen your picture here and you could wear a long enough loose fitting (at the waist or high hip area) top and still look fantastic!
You carry a gun for survival. You MUST ALWAYS be able to get to it and deploy it. The ankle holster will leave most folks in a sudden assault with the draw "trapped" and that is unacceptable. But if you must on occasion, then practice, practice, and practice some more.

eric...I'm sorry I just saw this. I've been so busy. :(
I found the holster in stock at www.RFHolsters.com. The toll free number is 800-724-8923. I called and he shipped it out the very next day. :)
I'll work on a picture or two. Thanks for sharing your picture, Glockgirl! :)
Oh, and I think the ankle rig would be very noticable in a pair of shorts. ;) ;a

Bruce is correct - dress around the gun.
Ankle carry, IMHO, should be for your BUG. Only for primary if that is last resort.
The key is to practice, practice, practice with whatever style you carry. Especially "abnormal" carry styles like ankle carry.

Ankle carry does work but everybody has his or her opinions on what is best way to carry. I use 3 styles, ankle,IWB,OWB and it depends on what I need and going to be doing. When I am doing my full time job of driving its most likely I am packing in an ankle rig. Most other times its on my belt.As far as drawing and using from ankle rig pratice is the word. In my part time work as a weapons instructor you hear all kinds of "expert" advice, but that ends when the class starts and most find out how and what will work for them and their needs. Most use ankle carry for BUGs and sometimes as primary carry when its not in a bad area they are in. Is it the fastest draw no is it better concealed yes but you need to judge your needs and comfort level. FOr me to draw from and ankle rig usally is 1 sec slower than from a belt. For the older folks you might think when the crap is hitting the fan and you carry in an ankle rig about faking a heart attack and drop by the time they relize that your faking is when you take them down.

Like I said, I will carry on my ankle when it's ankle carry or nothing. And I'm in love with that holster, btw. I highly recommend Alessi.

Here's a picture. It's not a good one because I was in a hurry to get to work...(that's a whole 'nother carry story, btw...and a GOOD one!)...but anyway you get the idea of the holster. :)

Too funny!! Ya gotta dress around the gun, ya know? ;) Truth is all of my black socks were dirty so I had to borrow a pair of Jeff's that day. *dying laughing*
Ya know I took some fun, sexy pictures with the ankle rig and high-heel sandals, but thought they were just too much for Glock Talk so I didn't post them. I figured I would have been called an "attention whore" again if I posted something fun, so needless to say, those pictures hit the cutting room floor. :)
Oh and pick on me all you want; you're just jealous because your Wolverines SUUUUUUUUUCK this year. ;f

Not sure what you meant by that; even asked Jeff (your fellow Michigan backer) but he wasn't sure either. But I promise you that if I did know I'd have a great come-back. ;)

It was a dig. Talking a lot of smack for the teams you played. The 4-0 record only holds when you play easy schedules. Today we see what happens when you play a real team. Your little Goldie will be taught the same lesson next week.

I use the Galco for my G27 and love it! I would carry it other places (and do some of the times) but for work - only thing I have found so far.

Don't laugh but it has worked and in a class I tought last year I used that move and believe me they found out how off guard they really were. I any class I do teach I stress expect the unexpected and never let your guard down. When doing that move everybody just dropped their guard and never expected anything to counter them. I'm not that old (40s) but have some grey showing and it has worked for me. It is just another tactic for anybody to use. They is only one way to fight," Do anything and everything to win".

Hollywood would be proud of you. Still sceptical of it working in real life when a doped-up criminal has you at knife/gun point. I, personally, would not try it. Sudden moves in front of somebody like that can cause more spook.
You are right, awareness is our best weapon. Avoidance would be our next.

Do you wear this on the inside or outside of your ankle?
Thanks.

Inside.
Well that's what it looked like from the pic. But, wouldn't the outside give easier access?

No. The easiest and most stable access inside the left leg for a right hander and inside the right leg for a left hander.
Also, given the curve of the calf, it conceals much better this way as well.

I believe the intructor to have valid point of ankle carry holsters, But if
you can bear with me, an ankle carry rig strong side carry makes more
sence. To me it would be an ideal holster for those who sit for a while
at a desk, since the reach would be less.
