Okay here is what I found out today on my K40 by Wilson.
I called Kahr and I the woman I spoke with told me to call Frank Harris at Kahr's corporate office. I spoke to Frank, and he said that about 100 were sent out to Wilson for Customization. I wanted more than just an approximate. Besides 100 sounds like it was just plucked from thin air and he kinda answered me quickly. I'd like to be certain because I don't want to mistate anything or look foolish and I did appreciate his time in talking with me.
I called Wilson Combat. Referred to Greg Jimenez, he remembers back in 1998 when Kahr sent in the K40's so he put me on hold for about 10 minutes. Came back and said his computer shows that in 1998, (100) K40's were shipped in for Custom jobs. Which included: Rounded
and polished trigger assembly (very light and very smooth pull), rounded the Trigger, Beveled the mag well, Checkered the front strap, Dehorned and deburred the entire pistol, and Polymer coated the slide. I asked about them if they throated the barrels and he said that that was the one thing he really remembered the most, was that everyone at Wilson Customs were amazed at how the K40's didn't need it done.
He said less than 100 were fully completed (96-97) and that they had the remaining 2-3 sitting in a safe for a while because they were missing some parts (probably for exact fitting purposes). I asked if they still had those few left (hell I would bought them all) and he said a couple of guys at Wilson bought them, ordered the needed parts from Kahr and finished them for themselves a couple of years ago. So the confirmed number is 100 as said in Wilson Customs/Combat's records and at Kahr's Corporate Office. The other cool thing about this pistol is that it's serial number is in the teens.
Here's a better picture.
