i picked up a fullsize ria the other week
so far so good
is this gun considered a 70 series or 80 configuration??
also what night sights will work on it??
and last but not least is there any brand of high grip safety that will drop in??
anyone shoot one of these?? if so whats your opinion on it??
thanks,

I have not and do not plan to customize mine.
Out of the box, the extractor was over tight so a round would not chamber. Deepened the notch a bit and have not had a failure (in several hundred rounds over half a dozen trips to the range.)
I am happy with it. Since I have not figured out what would be better if I paid $1000 more for a 1911, I don't plan to do that either.
I guess I am just not a connoisseur. It reliably goes bang when I pull the trigger. Most pistols are better shots than I am. What more could I ask.
Wilson Combat makes a drop in beavertail for the Gov't 1911's I have one on my RIA and it works great. You'll either need to bob the hammer to put a commander hammer in to fit tho.
As to sights, Trijicon and Meprolight both make sights to fit the front staked tenon, but most will recommend getting a dovetail cut for the front sight. Also what I did, I had a dovetail but and installed XS 24/7 big dots.
