I currently own and carry a G36 when I am legal to, I was wondering if anyone has had experience with shooting the new P45 and could compare it to the Glock 36.
I really like the fact that is is over a 1/8 of an inch thinner. and smaller in both length and no taller than the G36, which by the way, I LOVE to carry. Just something about those big holes!!!!!
It seems like the Kahr would be much easier to conceal based on how much thinner it is, I just wonder how controlable it will be.
Today, I stopped at a local Sportsman's Warehouse and they had 4 or 5 different Kahrs in house. To say the least, I was really impressed, great fit and finish, sharp looking and really THIN!!! I was looking at the P9 and the PM9 initially, but with the P45, I can get just about the same number of rounds, just bigger ;)
Any feedback would be appreciated.

The Kahr isn't "over 1/8 of an inch thinner", it's actually just under. Specifically, it would be .96/8 if there were such a thing.
Regarding the other dimensions:
Kahr lists their pistol heights without the mag inserted, while the Glock 36 listing of 4.76" includes the mag. The P40 I had was nearly the same height as my G23 with the mag inserted (from 4.55" to about 4.80") So that 4.8" height on the Kahr will be more like 5+".
The length of the P45 is the most significant size difference, being almost 1/2" shorter, but that's the easiest part to conceal anyway.
I just don't see the significant size difference with the P45 that exists with the P40 and P9 compared to the Glock 19/23 and even the G26/27.
I'd like to handle both at the same time though, because I know "on paper" is sometimes misleading.
I think I'll be going with the 36 myself. Wanna trade for a G23? :clown:

You have to remember people are all built differently. Length is a critical difference for me, for whom the SmartCarry is the best possible holster, 'cause the drop from my beltline to crotch is super-short. On the other hand, height of pistol butt doesn't mean diddly to me using this holster.

If you go to http://www.kahr.com/front.html you'll see two new fancy reviews of the P45. I very nearly bought both magazines last night but I remembered that Kahr is always very good about posting those on the website. It saved me $9 by waiting! Enjoy the articles.....

You are correct! (But I prefer .12) lol
But seriously, I'm going through the same thought process. I currently carry and really enjoy my P9. I love it. Sometimes I carry my XD9 and G19, but the P9 usually wins out on the carry days. I find myself thinking about the G30 an awful lot but that will be too big (I think) to carry very much. So, the P45 may be the logical choice assuming I trust it quality wise. I have never picked up one but I'm assuming it would be similar to my P9 but just a tad bigger (length, width, and height). Hmmm 6+1 of .45ACP vs. 7+1 of 9mm. I think I just made my choice!

It just dont get any slimmer than 1911. I would think a 4" kimber compact would be something to consider. Has 6+1 or 7+1 depending on which mags you use and has the frame length that you are looking for. Just a thought. The 1911 with slim grips is just a hair wider than my P9 covert. Thats how slim it is. I actually had to take my calipers out and measure them.

Yeah....except for the weight difference.

Yup, weight is very definitely a concealment consideration, as are tenths of inches.

You can't seriously be suggesting that the difference between 18oz and 34oz (a 48% difference) is comparable to the difference between 1.01" and 1.13" (an 11% difference).
There's no doubt that the .90" P9 is noticeably slimmer than the 1.18" G26, but that's a 24% difference. Tucked into your pants, you won't be able to tell the difference between a slide measuring 1.01" and one that's 1.13". Any differences you actually "feel" will be from the grip width, which is where Glocks REALLY get their width from.

P.S.
That's TENTH of an inch, as in ONE tenth, not TENTHS of an inch.

That's right, I never said such a thing. What I said is IT ALL COUNTS. And BTW if you wanna parade figures around, the percentage difference is less loaded, not that percentages ever counted for anything in weights, heights or any other dimension. What counts is whether a gun is concealable in a given position for a given individual, and I'm very sensitive to that, as are probably most others. If we weren't, most of us would be hiding service guns and there would be no market for Kahrs or mini-Glocks.
To get back to the original question....I have a P45, and carry it almost daily. Having had the P9 and P40, I can say they are quite similar in feel. The P45 felt better in my hands than the G36 when I shot both side by side. I use a Rosen holster from my P40, and the fit is perfect. Controlability is a personal issue, and I have no with this gun. It is more than the P9, but I feel that its is less than the P40 (all with Corbon loads). I'd say try each if you can. Good luck.
