Anyone has MP5? Share pictures and thoughts on MP5 submachine guns, please.
This is probably one of the most sought after submachine guns within the law enforcement community (as well as for specialized military units) for its accuracy and reliablity.

I have one. Technically it is an HK-94 restamped with S&H sear, but for the most part it is indistinguishable from a factory MP5 unless you know what to look for.
Mine came with SEF trigger group, but I have since picked up a Navy group and will soon install the sear in that. I also have a SWR/QD3K silencer for it, just mailed F4 for that today.
It was a hot gun 20 years ago, but today it has many shortcomings. I think a UMP45 is superior in most ways, except the stock.

I agree w/RenegadeGlocker on the UMP45. My only problem with the UMP is that it is SO lightweight that the recoil has to be managed a bit more to keep bursts on target. Sight acquisition isn't as easy as it is with the ol' MP5, but it is a different system, so it's like comparing apples to oranges.
I used to like my MP5's, but over the years I've gotten to the point where I don't shoot them anymore. They just don't have the 'fun' factor that they once did for me.
If you haven't owned a MP5, I'd say get one just for the experience. If you are an individual looking for a transferable, I'd personally find a Billistics registered receiver over a sear gun. It'll run you a few more bucks, but it is definitely the way to go. I've had several sear guns, and eventually, no matter the maker, they all had problems. The registered receiver guns had no problems whatsoever.
shot several and was boring, much prefer a uzi which can take many bolts and barrels to change it's character

I've got a MP5A2 and I like it alot. I also have a QD AAC can for it that is pretty quiet with subsonic ammo. I've shot some other subguns as well including an Uzi, Thompson and Grease Gun and I liked the MP5 the best. A very smooth operating weapon.
I owned one for a while and enjoyed it but got bored w/it. It is a sweet gun and it is one of the best/best shooting guns I have owned. I only had it for abt a year and shot it abt 6000-8000rds. They sure arent getting any cheaper.

I was thinking about getting a Class 3 license or NFA, so what does an MP5 cost these days?
For civilians, figure 13500-16500 for a MP5.
For SOT's, 6500-7500?? for a dealer sample
For SOT's, 900-1000 for a Post gun.
All prices approximate.
www.subguns.com and www.sturmgewehr.com are excellent places to start looking.

Those civilian prices are outrageous! ;z I could buy a Honda Civic for that much:( .
well nfa is a sport of kings now that the large stocks of cheap mgs are gone, hk mp5 has/had cool factor as lots of mil/police types use/used them
most nfa guns have jumped 2x-3x in 3 years because of 1 scaricity 2 demand 3 people with $ in disposable income able and willing to buy at higher prices
