MK40 purchase

Bought a used MK40 for $360.

Chose the MK40 over the PM40 because of some of the problems I have read about with the PM40.

Put a new Wolff recoil assembly in, and ordered wooden grips from Kahr.

The gun kicks, but a little less than my 342 scandium loaded with .38+p.

I'll take 6 rounds of .40S&W with a little less kick than 5 rounds of .38+p, although the scandium gun weighs half as much.

So far, the gun has not skipped a beat.

I used to have an MK40 Elite98 and loved it ... got a wild hair and sold it to buy an AR15 ... realized my mistake and traded the AR for an MK9 Elite98 with the wood grips (get the ones with the checkering ... checkering makes a HUGE difference).

Great little pistols ... and I know they are steel instead of plastic, but they are NOT too heavy for 24/7 CCW.

I've had my MK40 for several years now. I sent it to the factory for nightsights and later put on wood grips. It is a superb handgun. Yes the .40 caliber in such a small gun does recoil but I agree it's less than my 642 with +p rounds. Also from the ranges I've shot it (15 yards on in) at it is as accurate as many of my full sized guns. It's my "middle of summer hot as hell gun" backed by a P-3AT. And in the winter it backs up the big boys. It has never failed to feed, fire, or eject BTW. Some of the posts I've read lately seem to indicate Kahr's quality may be sliding. It's a shame because this little gun is a masterpiece of form and fuction.
