Polishing barrel question...

I just polished the feed ramp of my PM9...definitely seems to chamber easier now. I am now intrigued about polishing the barrel to further smooth the action (and for cosmetics).

However before I tackle the barrel, will polishing the factory finish it make it prone to rust? This is my daily carry, and while I dont sweat too much, I wonder how polishing effects the long-term durability of the metal.

Anyone have any long-term reports, positive or negative, regarding their polished barrels?

i used a dremel to polish my barrel,
i carry the gun everyday,no rust issues.
everytime you clean it, put a light coating of oil or breakfree.

Just remember that if you polish too much you will go blind.

I actually kinda like the finish on the barrel. It lets me know which areas need lubrication and is a great indicator for when the gun is broken in.
