Im currently reading "surviving the sword".man i had to put it down.i was having nightmares.i need to get back to it though.it has drawnings made at the time by the pows(fapows means far eastern prisoners of war.)and many eye witness acounts that are so bitt its no wonder ww2 vets dont talk alot about what they went threw.the dirty japaneese got their cumupence when we struck them to their knees and made the emporer cry uncle sam!
their were many death marches by the japs,thed basicly march you for 5 days strait.you might stop for 30 minutes in the wee hours of the morning only to be harrased and proded along with bayonettes.water?ha you want water?the only water they got was if they fell into a puddle of water on the road.if they tryed to drink from the many artesian wells along the road they were shot dead.they were so tierd after several days of jungle heat and humitity the japs would mock them in broken english"hey jo ,you tired jo?you lay down on road,you get good long sleep"they were a bunch of cold blooded murderers that followed up the rear and any pow that was stragling was simply shot in the head or bayonettet or best of sport beheaded with a single slash of the sword.they had zero regard for these men they felt the devine god was on their side and the jap emporer was god on earth.read this book and you will realize they are not the polite little clowns that they are.
