Just got back from the fun show. I got a NIB Kahr MK9 model 9093bx. Both the frame and slide are stamped "stainless". Can I assume that this is an all stainless gun but with the slide blackened? I thought it was a "BOX" model, but the "BOX" is not in the model number.
On the box is listed:
MK9, 9MM, Special Duo Tone
BTW, got it for $380 plus tax. Not a bad deal I think.
Thanks or all your help. I am a newbie when it comes to Kahr firearms.

The BX in the model number would be indicator #1
If only one mag; Indicator #2
<$400, NIB. Indicator #3
Don't ask me why their website lists the model number as M9093-BOX
& yours has M9093-BX. But I'd lay money on BOX if you pass all 3 qualifiers.
Also, are you sure that the slide says stainless steel & not just steel ? As the BOX's slide is made out of aircraft steel.

Thanks for the feedback. The slide is marked "Stainless" as clear as day. I would find it hard to believe that they would mark a carbon steel slide with "stainless" if it were not made out of stainless steel. Seems like it would be of absolutely no value to do so and open the door to customer issues. On the Kahr site, they show the suffix "BOX" not "BX". Leads me to believe that I have an all stainless gun with a blackened slide. BTW, the model number is not 9093-BX. It is 9093BX no dash at all.
I sent Kahr an email as well. When I get my reply, I will post back.
Thanks again.

Well I would bet good money that this is an all stainless gun with a blackened slide since it is marked as being stainless on bot the frame and the slide.
Anyhow - I put 300 rounds through it today at the range. No malfunctions at all. Gun is really accurate. Pleasant to shoot as well. The G19 did not even get a chance to be shot since I was enjoying the MK9 so much. I did 100 rounds of WWB and 100 rounds of assorted hollowpoints including 50 +p corbons.
Great little gun and will now ride in my front pocket!

Just curious, where is the slide marked with "stainless"?
I have a MK40 and had a K40 Covert. The only marking on the MK40 slide is "MK40" and "Kahr", and as I recall the only marking on may K40 Covert was "K40" and "Kahr".
Pictures of the marking would be nice, but I know some do not have access to digital photography.

It is marked on the right side of the slide. On the bottom right of the slide if you were looking at it.
It would be hard to get a picture showing it I think. The black matte finish might make it difficult to get enough contrast to show the lettering.

Maybe putting something like whiteout in the lettering might make it standout. I was thinking about something that could be easily removed yet make the lettering stand out.
Kahr has made some exceptions to the standard from time to time.
I am interested in the response you get from Kahr.
This is just a guess, pure speculation, but maybe it is something they tried before coming up with the DLC blacking. Again pure speculation.
In any case, enjoy your new Kahr.

I spoke with a nice lady at Kahr (I did not get her name). She stated that it should be a regular "BOX" model Kahr. She was at a loss to explain why the slide was stamped as stainless though. It is not supposed to be. She checked with the production guys as well.
So, there is still somewhat of a mystery as to what exactly the slide is made of since she had "no idea" why the slide was stamped "stainless". If they don't know, I guess I never will either. Suppose I'll just wait and see if it ends up being sensitive to corrosion or anything. Of course, I always wipe my guns down with a CLP rag at the end of a day of carrying here in Texas (102 degrees yesterday!) so I may never find out anyway.
Regardless, what a great little pocket gun. I am so very pleased with the way it performed at the range yesterday and how easy it is to carry in the front pocket of my Wranglers.

Thanks for the update. And I suggest a magnet test to determine if it is carbon steel.

Carbon steel and stainless steel are both ferrous.
Consequently, a magnet will be attracted to both.

When I think of all the times I suffered through a G26 or G19 in a bellyband under a tucked in shirt in 100+ degree heat when I could have been carrying this little gem in my pocket instead...
Not to mention the speed with which I can draw this gun from my front pocket as opposed to doing the superman rip to access a gun under a shirt...
Oh well - never too old to learn :)
Wish I had tried one of these years ago. The trigger was so smooth that the gun shocked me when it went off. I see another one in my future.
Thanks again for all the insight and resposne.

Yeah - but I ain't what I used to be in the abs department :)
Looks like my open shirt is blowing a bubble when the buttons come undone :) (how's that for a visual!)
I am sure any ladies in close proximity will appreciate my new method of drawing a gun.

AND THE ANSWER IS..... DING DING DING - Stainless Steel Slide!!!
As a recap...
I posted a question about my MK9 model # 9093BX a day or two ago. It was strange because my slide is marked as "Stainless" under the black coating. I called Kahr this morning and they said that they did not know why the slide was marked stainless, but it was certainly a BOX model regardless.
Well, tonight, I get a reply from Dottie w/ Kahr stating:
"Normally the MK9BX has a 4140 carbon steel slide with a black oxide (gun blue) coating. We recently needed to fulfill an order for these guns and we did not have sufficient 4140 slides to do so. We used stainless steel slides and had them black passivated (gun blue does not adhere to stainless)"
She also stated that my gun was worth considerably more than an economy model since it is not one! So, for $380 plus tax - I got a unique gun! I have half a mind to go buy another one from the dealer that has them in stock!
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!

I carried her all day today at work in my front pocket. Fits like a charm in my Wranglers and no one was the wiser. I will be looking around for a very low profile, thin pocket holster for it. I am using a Mika pocket holster that I had for a S&W 642, but it add too much bulk in the pocket. I will probably try a FIST kydex or something similar.
Thanks again for all the responses to my original question.

For god's sake, don't let him know it, but it was Schramm's in Mequite. I am really thinking about driving out there and getting another one. I hope he does not read these boards. As far as he knows, they are regular BOX models!
I bought it from him at the Market Hall gun show last weekend.
He always has good prices. I bought an OD G19 from him a couple weeks ago at the Mesquite show for $449 and several months ago I bought a S&W 642 for $299 plus tax.
As a real plus, at the Mesquite show, this huge chested brunette sold me the G19. I was MESMORIZED by her low cut shirt! She was in the "zone" too. In her late 30's early 40's. Probably would have bought a Jennings from her for twice retail price based on the way those twin beauties were propped up on her arms while she was talking to me :)
Just look for the "stainless" marking on the slide as indicated in the pics I posted. I am not 100% sure that the other BOX models he has are the same as the one I lucked into.
Man I just LOVE it when I get a good deal. Helps take the sting out of all the times I traded one off or sold one and regretted it later!
