View Full Version : T9 comments?
Anyone with any thoughts or usage? I wander if the "elite" trigger is installed in the T-9?
If you had to choose between the T-9 or K-9 elite for carry,,, any thoughts or comments?
Thanks

I made this up a while back when someone was wondering whether or not to get a SIG 239, a K9 or a T9 for CCW... not sure, it may or may not be be of some help here:

For me, I really, REALLY like the T9’s extra sight plain that it offers over the K9… the extra velocity that you’d get from the T9’s longer barrel is nothing to scoff at either. The only thing that would even begin to make me not want the T9 over the K9, for CCW, is the fact that the T9 has a longer grip… I have average sized hands & the K9’s grip is just right for a full 4 finger grip. Anything longer then that (T9) is longer than is needed for me personally. The T9’s longer grip is really only an issue because as we all know the grip is the hardest thing to conceal… if it weren’t for that it wouldn’t be an issue in the least. HOWEVER, even with the T9’s longer grip it’s STILL shorter overall then the SIG 239, which isn’t a difficult gun to conceal.
I guess what I’m saying here is that if the T9’s grip was the same as the K9’s I’d choose the T9 hands down for CCW, no questions asked, no hesitation... but you do get 1 extra round with the T9’s extra grip length which does make it a bit easier to take… ;)
Colt45, I say if ya don’t have a problem with the T9’s 0.45” extra grip length over the K9, then grab it up for the benefits it does have over the K9.
As far as the elite trigger thing goes, I’ve heard/read more then once that ALL Kahrs now have the elite trigger installed that aren’t specifically labeled with the “NYCPD Specs” deal (I know that the wording on Kahr’s www site leads me to believe that)… I’d just give Kahr a quick call & ask about that particularly. (Even if the Kahr T9 doesn’t have the elite trigger that would be easy enough to remedy… whether or not you did the conversion yourself or had Kahr do it for ya.)
To stir the pot. The TP9 has the longer slide of the T series and the shorter grip frame of the P series. Also you can knock off half a pound in weight. Concelment, I find that if I carry strong side IWB on my belt (what I do 98% of the time) I have to ware the same cover garments weither I am carring an MK 40 or a Beretta 92 (or anything in between the 2 sizes such as a Glock 19/30/21 P40 or 1911. What I find is that the holster is more improtant than the size of the gun. Sure the P40 in a Krammer IWB #3 is more comfortable than my Bretta 92 in a Mitch Rosen ARG but both require the same shirt/Vest/Jacket to hide it.

Of course the above is EXACTLY why I don't own a T9 yet... the TP9 fits my needs better. ^c (Between the T9, K9, P9 & TP9 my next Kahr will be the TP9... HOWEVER, I must say that the T9 may end up VERY well being the next Kahr to enter my house as my wife (her wants/needs are different then mine) is contemplating one. :))

I agree 110% as I find the same... this is why more often then not you'll find my G34 on my hip & to a lesser extent; my G19 -vs- one of my Kahrs.

Hello,
Genius is behind the T9. I am so happy with mine. Had and sold an E9 a few years ago. A little heavy for the size but I thought the trigger was ok. The T9 has the elite trigger and it is just one heck, no make that double heck, of a firearm. Get it.
By the way Michigun, what a knowledgeable comparison and thanks for your effort between the three. In the hand the Sig is HUGE compared to the Kahrs.
Of course that is just my opinion I could be wrong.

Yup, where the T9 kicks the 239's butt is when you look at the thickness. The 239 is just shy of being 5/16 of an inch wider then the T9... that's a HUGE difference! (It's also funny to see that the 239's length is 0.1" longer then the T9's yet the T9's barrel is almost a full 1/2" longer then the 239's... that 1/2" gets you + or - 50fps faster bullets hitting the target & with the Kahr's rifle design you gain even more velocity (looks like another 50+fps) over the SIG! I'm telling ya, I don't know why ANYONE would choose a 239 over a Kahr. :))
Thanks for the reply's. Whats a good ball park price for a new T-9?
There's one now for $585 plus $15 shipping NIB on gunsamerica. They are $739 in Collectors in Houston (what a shocker). I've seen them online for everywhere in between. Those had the MMC's.
I hope Kahr goes farther in this direction in the future? Granted, you get any bigger, it's no longer a carry piece really (which is what Kahr is all about). But if they made a 4 1/2" or 5", real full size-THat would be my ideal gun. I just don't know if I can wait. The T9 is too sweet.
Because I just love how Kahrs are setup. I don't even like compact guns- I have big hands. It's just that no one else makes anything similiar-all steel and wood, no safeties or decockers, etc, sweet double action, made in USA. Nothing out there that compares with that.
Anyone have the T9 with the MMC's? How "adjustable" are they? I know 22 clicks of elevation, that's got to be a pretty good range, but is it a pain to adjust for windage?
How has your experiences been with taking these down? Do most of you have to use a tool with the pin, or can you do it by hand?
Also, anyone know if Kahrs have any plastic parts?
Thanks.

I still have to start my K9's pin out with the base of a magazine... no big deal, still easy enough.

For the all steel Kahrs there is either 1 or 2 plastic parts… the "Striker Spring Guide" is for sure & if I'm remembering correctly the "Trigger Spacer" is too. That's it for sure though.

Ordered the Wife a TP9 because she liked the grip size. When it was delivered though, it was a T9 in the box instead. I had a REALLY hard time giving it back to my dealer and saying: "I think you'll find I ordered a TP9" instead of "Well, OK, get me the TP9 as well then.".
With the wood grip panels it felt like a Browning HighPower.
So far, no problems with the TP9. My wife's small hands handle it well, and the Novaks are fine:
